  • Tennessee Waste to Jobs Act
    Jan 16 2025

The Tennessee Waste to Jobs Act has the potential to generate $300 million for recycling, create 7,700 new jobs, and divert 950,000 tons of waste from landfills.

With the leadership of Sen. Heidi Campbell, D-Nashville, Tennessee is advancing sustainability and economic development through this groundbreaking legislation, also known as the Tennessee Waste Reduction and Recycling Act (TWRRA). This initiative aims to establish a statewide producer responsibility organization, funded by corporations rather than taxpayers, to enhance recycling programs and expand service accessibility throughout the state. By boosting recycling efforts, the act will lower landfill costs for local taxpayers, minimize the need for additional landfills, create job opportunities, and supply local manufacturers with essential raw materials for production.
