Join me as we explore the story of Junko Furuta who was just 16 years old when she was abducted, raped, beaten, and killed by four teenage boys in 1980s Japan. On 25 November 1988, Miyano and Minato were wandering around Misato, Tokyo with the intention of robbing and raping local women. At 8:30 p.m., they spotted Furuta riding her bike home after she had finished a shift at her job. It was then decided by Miyano that he was going to abduct and rape Furuta.
Over the next 44 days the four boys held Furuta captive in the Minato residence, where they repeatedly beat, raped, and tortured her. They also invited other men and teenage boys home and encouraged them to take turns raping her.
She had desperately tried to escape and tried to call the police, only to be caught and punished even further.
This is the grisly and unfortunate story of her abduction, torture and murder by four boys. Whose sentencing and punishment have been harshly criticised ever since.
