    With Iran losing Syria, one of its greatest Arab allies and satellite states, president-elect Donald Trump will likely still strike a deal with Iran. Trump’s maximum pressure policy was never aimed at regime change, despite some expectations, his last special envoy for Iran told Iran International's Eye for Iran podcast. It was about making a deal.
    Elliott Abrams, the former special representative for Iran during the first Trump administration, said achieving a comprehensive plan to halt Iran’s nuclear and regional ambitions is likely the endgame for Trump’s second presidency.

Idlbi, who was imprisoned and tortured under the rule of Assad, told the Eye for Iran podcast that while Iran publicly provides support to Syria, they are limited in how much they can do after being weakened by Israel.
