Baseball has been part of Appalachia since the game started. A staple has always been the Cincinnati Reds. During the coal booms miners would ride the train to Cincinnati from the coal fields catch a couple games and ride the train back home. The reds have a caravan which has player and management who travel from town to town prior to the start of spring training.
