Meanwhile Spanish duo Barca and Atleti bounced back from adversity to claim vital wins with 10 man Atleti overturning Leverkusen's 1-0 lead to beat Alonso's men 2-1 at home while Blaugrana came back from 4-2 down to win 5-4 in an incredible night at the expense of their hosts Benfica on a night when 3 red cards were issued. Arsenal and Liverpool cemented their spot in the Top 8 after comfortable wins at home with the Milan clubs scrapping 1-0 away wins to boost their chances for the Round of 16.

Leipzig beat Sporting Lisbon 2-1 at home, despite being already eliminated with the 2 marksmen Sesko and Gyokeres both leaving their mark as they continue to audition for winter moves with plenty of big clubs swarming for their signatures
