    Sep 24 2024

For this episode of Feed the DJ, we’re featuring two talented and unique artists who are carving out their own lanes in the music scene.

Precursor Mentality hails from New Jersey and draws inspiration from obscure influences to create God-fearing boom-bap tracks reminiscent of the Golden Era sound. His beats and raps reflect a mindset that sets him apart from the crowd. We first connected at the Pass the Aux event at Hub17, and since then, he’s been making waves. With a recent performance in Richmond, VA, we’ll dig into his creative process, upcoming projects, and more.

We also have $kin Up, an artist from Atlanta known for his genre-blending approach that mixes contemporary and alternative hip-hop with rock. His new music, including "Tmz" (released May 24th) and "Overthinker" (dropped Sept 10th), touches on themes of mental health awareness. We’ll also talk about his journey from engineering to making his own music, his new merch drops, and his plans for a 2025 USA tour. I first met $kin Up at Digital Madhouse Boutique in Brooklyn, and it’s been exciting to follow his rise.
