Sydor, 44, spent the previous five seasons as an assistant coach for the Minnesota Wild (NHL). The Wild posted a regular-season record of 188-143-45 (.560) during his tenure behind the bench and earned Stanley Cup Playoff berths each of the last four years. He entered the coaching profession with the Houston Aeros (AHL) in 2010-11.
