Julio Roman is a native from Newark, NJ. He is an advocate, activist and author whose life has been dedicated to creating LGBTQ+ safe spaces. He recently released his book, “Out of Space: Creating Safe Spaces in Unlikely Places” which is now an amazon bestseller. Julio also recently launched “The Out Agency,” through which he and his partners provide people and organizations consultancy on LGBTQIA+ capacity building; diversity, equity, and inclusion workshops; safe space design and development; support content creation; and help organizations connect with community leaders and gatekeepers in order to create better experiences and support for the communities they serve. Some other highlights from his life are:
- Representing the LGBTQ+ community on Capital Hill, to the US State department, the world monetary funds, and the united nations,
- Being featured as Insider NJ’s Out 100, in their LGBT Power List for his leadership in community organizing and HIV/AIDS work.
