    I don't know who I am outside of being an "Autism Mom." And on top of that I don't know who I am outside of being a single mom. My title as a single mom to my 8 year old son with non-verbal autism has taken my identity. What does it even mean to have needs? What do I even like? Does anyone know who they are without a title of a job, parent, wife, husband? Centering yourself and putting your needs, wants and desires on the to-do list is easier said than done. Is it safe to dream, again? Autism has taken over my whole identity because it has taken on my whole world. Can any other Special Needs parent/ caregiver relate?
