  • Rewiring Election Anger - How your Brain is Being Influenced

    If you're feeling overwhelmed with emotions after the election and find yourself deeply angry or even hating Donald Trump, it might be worth taking a step back to reflect on where those strong feelings are coming from. Our brains are incredible at adapting and changing—thanks to something called neuroplasticity, which allows us to form new neural connections based on repetitive thoughts, behaviors, and messages we absorb over time. When we repeatedly hear negative messages or engage in the same thought patterns, it actually rewires our brains, reinforcing those thoughts until they become automatic reactions. In this case, repeated exposure to negative news, social media, or conversations might have shaped those feelings more than we realize. Just like positive affirmations and visualization can help us rewire our brains for success and happiness, constant negative reinforcement can have the opposite effect, leading to deep-seated resentment. This process is similar to brainwashing—where our thinking can be reshaped without us even being fully aware of it. Understanding how neuroplasticity works empowers us to recognize when we’re being influenced and gives us the chance to reframe our thoughts. Instead of focusing on anger or hate, we can choose to focus on what we want for our future. It’s okay to feel strongly about the election, but remember, you have the power to shape your thoughts in ways that serve your growth and well-being. Awareness is the first step.
