  • S01E10 - Cheryl L'Hirondelle, Marjorie Beaucage and Curtis Clear Sky

    Today on the show we have three amazing guests. First we have Cheryl L’Hirondelle, a Metis/Cree interdisciplinary artist, singer/songwriter and critical thinker. Her work investigates and articulates the intersections of a Cree worldview and contemporary time-place incorporating sound, Indigenous languages, music, and old and new technology.

    Next on the show we have Marjorie Beaucage, a two-spirited Métis filmmaker, teacher and activist. She is one of Canada’s most distinguished Indigenous media artists, whose career formally began at the age of forty when she started studying0 filmmaking at Ryerson University. She is committed to building cultural bridges between worlds through her creations and stories.  

    Our musical guest today is Curtis Clear Sky, a Blackfoot and Anishinaabe artist and entrepreneur. His band is Curtis Clear Sky & the Constellationz released their album Indigifunk in 2019.

    Today on the show we have three fantastic guests. First we’ll be talking to Potaua & Nikolasa Biasiny-Tule, the co-founders of TangataWhenua.com and project managers of Google Māori. They also founded Digital Natives Academy to teach New Zealand’s youngest generation animation, e-sports and content creation.

    Next on the show we have Rylan Friday, a Vancouver-based Saulteaux Ojibway and Plains Cree multi-disciplinary storyteller, curator, writer and producer from Cote First Nation, Saskatchewan. Rylan’s focus is to bring an honest discourse of LGBTQ2+ & Indigenous representation to the big screen while being truthful to their own narratives.

    Our musical guest today is Travis Adrian Hebert, a Cree/Metis artist, emcee, beatmaker, and producer also known as Heebz the Earthchild.

  • S01E08 - Nyla Innuksuk, Alicia Lawrence and Miss Christie Lee

    On today’s episode we have three fantastic guests. First we’ll be talking to Nyla Innuksuk, an Inuk artist, filmmaker, writer and founder of the production company Mixtape VR. As a writer for Marvel Comics, Nyla co-created the character of Snowguard, a teenage superhero from Pangnirtung, Nunavut. 

    Next on the show we have Alicia Lawrence, a Cree-Métis digital artist, graphic designer and creative writer. Alicia works in traditional and digital mediums to produce creative works and compelling messages.

    Our musical guest on today’s show is storyteller, poet and hip-hop artist Miss Christie Lee from the Musqueam/tsleilwahtuth Nations. Christie weaves traditional knowledge and language into her music, and in 2018 she became Vancouver, BC’s first Indigenous poet laureate.

Based out of Yellowknife he operates his business Outland Sound Design producing and recording audio for film, television, radio and theatre.  

    Next on the show we have the multi-talented Matthew Wood, a Cree and Vietnamese DJ, youth educator and traditional grassdancer who has toured with the A Tribe Called Red, the band now known as The Halluci Nation. Matt goes by the stage name Creeasain, a nod to his mixed heritage.

First we’ll be talking to Casey Koyczan, a Tlicho Dene interdisciplinary artist whose work communicates how culture and technology coincide together alongside the political, economic, and environmental challenges that we are presented with. Inspired by sci-fi and Indigenous Futurisms, Koyczan uses various techniques of interactivity, audio-video, and the engagement of the bodily senses within his creations. 

    Our next guest is Rose Stiffarm, a Blackfoot filmmaker, artist, and educator from the Siksika Nation. She has a bachelor’s degree in Motion Picture arts from Capilano University, and is working towards her master’s in Film Studies at Concordia University. 

    Our last guest is Matthew Cook-Contois, a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter from the Misipawistik Cree Nation who performs with his band Eagle Ex Machina.

    Today on the show we have three incredible guests. First we’ll be talking to Wireamu Grace, a Māori writer and director. In 2020 his cinematic VR film Whakakitenga (Wah-ka-ki-tang-ga) premiered at imagineNATIVE, the world’s largest indigenous film and media arts festival. 

    Our next guest is Keara Lightning, of the Samson Cree Nation, who is a game designer, the co-founder of Ekosi Games, and M.A. student in the Faculty of Native Studies at University of Alberta. 

    Our last guest is Hope One, a Maori artist who is considered one of the top female beatboxers in the world. Hope founded the Hope One School Of Beatbox, and tours schools giving beatbox workshops - sharing her knowledge, experience, and skills to help inspire the community and encourage youth to follow their dreams.

First we’ll be talking to Jason Lewis, a Hawaiian and Samoan digital media artist, software designer, and founder of Obx Laboratory for Experimental Media. Jason is also the director of the Initiative for Indigenous Futures, the co-director of Aboriginal Territories in Cyberspace and the  Professor of Computation Arts at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

    Our next guest is Dallas Flett-Wapash, an Ininew and Saulteaux video game designer, whose body of work is an artistic examination of his cultural worldview – including cosmology, culture and language. 

    Our last guest is MYNXY, a mixed Indigenous singer, songwriter, producer and DJ. She’s known for singing live in her DJ performances, which genre-bending unpredictability often mixes elements of R&B, Hip Hop, D&B, House and Bass.
