  • Ep 4: Wakers
    Feb 2 2025

Wakers has a lot of content warnings: necrophilia, substance abuse, foul language, graphic depictions of violence, self-harm, suicide, and brief mentions of sexual assault. If you can stomach it though, it's a great show!

There are a couple minor spoilers but I feel they're necessary for mental health safety reasons; I want everyone to be informed going into this since it's such a mature show! But it is truly an amazing work of art and I don't think these spoilers take away from the experience at all.

In this grimly humorous audio drama, the afterlife isn’t as restful as you’d hope. When corpses are brought back to life with a little bit of love (and necrophilia), they find themselves alone, confused, and in a world that has moved on without them.

WAKERS follows the newly undead as they stumble through their second chance at life. From mandatory group therapy to barely functioning government programs, they will find that life wasn’t quite ready for them. Not to mention the anxiety, depression, memory loss, the burnings, that weird club, that weirder church, my head’s leaking, I don’t know where I am or where to go or who I am, but hey -- at least I’m alive! ...right?

Anyways... prepare for laughter, emotions, and discomfort as these reanimated souls explore the nature of identity, loneliness, and making a home when there’s nowhere else to go.

WAKERS was produced by Bedrock Productions. It was written and directed by Garrett Atkinson and co-directed by Dalton Sides.

  • Ep 3: Storybook Ending (Actual Play)
    Jan 26 2025

Full disclosure: Storybook Ending's Keeper of Stories is my spouse, Loxley Blaine! I wouldn't recommend the show if I didn't truly think people would like it, though. That said, if you want to skip this episode, I understand. Rest assured that this is an anomaly, and won't happen often (or possibly ever again).

Today I talk about Storybook Ending. It's a fun as hell actual play podcast (which I don't usually cover, but it's really good). It's about stories coming to life in a small town where four humans are granted word-based magic.

For some insight into the podcast, I have Storybook Ending's own Killian Day with me to talk about the show! Killian plays Tabs, so if you're a fan of Storybook, tune in for some Tabs Talk! The Keeper Loxley also pops in for a bit to build some spells with us using Spell the RPG's system.

(Forgive the dogs barking in the background once or twice in the latter half of the ep, we had a busy day.)

  • Ep 2: A Somewhat Peculiar Frog AND I Found a Wormhole
    Jan 19 2025

Two relatively short ADs this week! Listen in as I struggle to pronounce the word 'depth,' haha. Join the discussion about these ADs on reddit.

    A Somewhat Peculiar Frog:

A four episode science fiction limited series about a herpetology student, a strange frog, storytelling, and trust.

Matthew is a surveying intern at a new nature preserve being established by the PA State Park Service, making audio notes as he goes. He has just found a frog that he cannot identify. It only gets stranger when the frog speaks.

    I Found a Wormhole:

Her back is against the wall. Money is running short. Options are few. Fortunately, she’s just made the discovery of a lifetime - a wormhole, tucked inside the abandoned restroom in the forest. The origin - unknown. The destination - unknown. But the possibilities are endless. If only she can find out what’s on the other side.

  • Ep 1: Waiting for October
    Jan 12 2025

Waiting for October is a queer supernatural audio drama series from the creators of Moonbase Theta, Out.

Our story is set in the world of October – a place of monsters, a place of fiction, a place of others born from the need of our stories.

It’s a world that is wild and transformative – where gill folks live in the lakes and weres run through the city streets, while kaiju roar beyond the mountains and the Moon always fills the midnight sky.

Karo came from the monster world to live in ours; made a life there and fell in love with Yvonne. Now they are both crossing over to adventure in October together; to uncover Karo’s past, and to discover what that means to their future.

Waiting For October explores why we tell stories, what deep human need they fulfill, and why so many of them are about monsters.

  • Ep 0: What Is Indie Frequencies?
    Jan 12 2025

There are a lot of audio dramas in the world. Sometimes you need a friend to ramble about their favorites to help you decide which to listen to next. Sometimes you don't have a friend... and that's where I come in!

Indie Frequencies is a review show for hidden gems in the audio drama category. I'll do 5-15 minute reviews of shows I think deserve more attention, and I'll play the relevant trailer at the end of each episode (with permission). Longer episodes will have review recaps at the beginning. If you'd like to discuss the show in question, there will be a discussion post on the audio drama subreddit each Sunday when a new episode goes out.

If you'd like to submit your show for me to check out, go to audicinal.wordpress.com/indie-frequencies .
