Jesus, True and Greater Jonah | February 2, 2025

  • Résumé

  • Life is full of storms—some caused by circumstances, others caused by our own sin. Like Jonah, we often run from God, choosing our own way instead of His. But no matter how far we go, the storm always finds us. The good news? Jesus willingly entered the storm for us—both the raging sea and the ultimate storm of sin and death—to bring us peace.

In today’s episode, we explore Matthew 8:23-27 and Jonah 1, seeing how Jesus is the true and greater Jonah. While Jonah was thrown into the sea because of his disobedience, Jesus took on the storm of God’s wrath for our disobedience. The disciples panicked when the waves crashed in, but Jesus wasn’t worried. With just a word, He calmed the sea—and by giving His life for us on the cross, He's calmed the chaos of sin in our lives.

    🔑 Key Scriptures & Takeaways:

✔️ Matthew 8:23-27 – The disciples panic in the storm, but Jesus calms it with a simple command, proving He is Lord over all things.
✔️ Jonah 1:1-17 – Jonah ran from God and had to be thrown into the sea, pointing us to Jesus, who willingly entered the storm to rescue us from sin.
✔️ Psalm 107:28-30 – Even when we cry out in the mess of our own making, God is faithful to bring peace and stillness to our chaos.
✔️ John 14:27 – The peace Jesus offers isn’t based on circumstances—it’s deep, unshakable, and eternal.

We aren’t just caught in storms; we also create them through our rebellion and sin. But Jesus, full of mercy, steps into the chaos we deserve and brings peace we could never earn.
