In 1993 Maarten Durent and the late Mike Corliss took the bull by the horns and a tiger by the tail, embarking on a journey that would change their lives forever. In their former roles at Specialist Transport Equipment (STE) they demonstrated an unrivaled energy and enthusiasm for the truck importation, sales, and support industry. Now the two had PACCAR's marques all to themselves in Godzone. They believed they had what it took to grow something fantastic, and although the challenges came thick and fast – including the passing of Mike in 2012 – time has proven them right. In the Aussie update this month we cross to the lucky country for a catch-up with expat Bradley Gallagher who drives the well publicised Airlie Beach Hotel Kenworth T909. Forget glass-half-full, Bradley has been a glass-completely-full truck nut since he was a kid, and it appears the gene has been well and truly handed on to son Lucas.

You could be with him at the Rover's Return having a beer. It's always a hell of a laugh catching up with our good mate and Commercial Motor magazine editor Will Shiers to see what's going on in Blighty and the Euro zone. This month Will participates in a two-truck Volvo evaluation drive to Gibraltar, he drives a CNG-fueled Scania R460, and he delivers a letter to Santa Claus in a Renault E-Tech T.

We catch-up with our Euro regular, Swedish log-truck driver Mattias Vikberg. His passion for all things trucking proves we are a global community, and half a planet away there's a more in common than you might think.
