    On December 15th, 2022, Diana Cojocari arrived for a scheduled meeting at her daughter’s middle school with the guidance counselor in Cornelius, North Carolina. Her 11-year-old daughter, Madalina, hadn’t been to school in more than 3 weeks. Diana had promised to bring Madalina with her to the meeting, but she came alone. It didn’t take long for school officials to realize that something was wrong. Madalina was missing, and her mother and stepfather never reported her disappearance to police until that day at the school. What followed has been an investigation littered with inconsistent timelines, conflicting statements, and strange behavior, none of which have led to Madalina’s whereabouts.     In 1986 in a small town in Massachusetts, the Bowen family was grieving the loss of their mother and wife after a battle with cancer. The two teenage girls spent a lot of time in the home alone while their father, Frank, was at work. They began hearing noises in their home and thought that their house was haunted. It turned out that a boy the eldest daughter had dated was living in their walls and watching them. After being caught and subsequently released less than a year later, Daniel LaPlante murdered a pregnant woman and her two young children while burglarizing their home.     In June of 2010, La’Rene Austin rushed into the Palmdale Sheriff’s Office saying that she found her best friend Lanell Barsock dead in her garage. She was covered in blood and frantic. She spoke with detectives and was able to tell them that she saw the man who did it, LaNell’s boyfriend Louis. The couple's tumultuous relationship coupled with La’Rene’s identifying him led to Louis' swift arrest, but as more evidence came to light, detectives began to question if they had the right person in custody.
