Title: Y-Studs - A Jackson 5 Chanukah (*from 0:23 mins) Description: Spin the dreidel, light the candles, and get ready to dance! The Y-Studs are back with our grooviest release yet, A Jackson 5 Chanukah! This year, we’re fusing the soulful sounds of Motown with the timeless story of Chanukah. Just like the Maccabees brought light to the darkness, the Jackson 5 brought joy and energy to music - and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the Festival of Lights. Chanukah is all about perseverance, miracles, and spreading light, and we hope this fun, soulful twist on some classics brings that spirit to life for you. Who says you can’t dance while lighting the Menorah? • L'Chaim - To Life SU2024 E1 (25-12-2024) with Six13, Racheli Kofsky, Freya Leach, Ramona Chrapot and Mia Schem
    Dec 25 2024
The program is replayed Fridays between 2PM and 3PM on Melbourne’s 3ZZZ 92.3FM This week’s Summer Series episode is focusing on: The Gen Z Advocates. Title: Six13 – A Wicked Chanukah (*from 0:23 mins) Description: The song, by veteran Jewish a cappella group Six13, is a voice-only medley of music from the box office smash prequel to the classic movie “The Wizard of Oz”. The parallels between their story, the ancient one we celebrate, and the ongoing struggle we endure today -- fighting against the odds, overcoming oppression and vilification -- are not lost on us. We hope you'll find this just as meaningful. Chag Sameach! Title: Racheli Kofsky – Dear Mr Dutton ….. (*from 5:48 mins) (Original broadcast date: December 11, 2024) Segment Podcast Link: https://omny.fm/shows/lchaim-to-life/racheli-kofsky-dear-mr-dutton Description: An Open Letter to the Opposition Leader, The Hon Peter Dutton MP, from Adass Israel congregant Racheli Kofsky, Jewish Australian. Title: KAN English News Flash – December 25, 2024 at 2PM (IST) (*from 10:26 mins) Description: The latest bulletin from the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation. Title: Freya Leach – Student activist Marching for the Living and Israel, to say Never Again Is Now (from 17:51 mins) (Original broadcast date: June 12, 2024) Segment Podcast Link: https://omny.fm/shows/lchaim-to-life/freya-leach-student-activist-marching-for-the-livi Description: Maurice Klein speaks with Freya Leach, Christian activist and Director of the Centre for Youth Policy, studying for a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Law at Sydney University, with a very active social media following and frequently appearing as a special guest at events focusing on young people and politics. As part of the Australian delegation, Freya recently participated on the 31st March Of The Living (MOTL) at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp. She tells us how privileged and life changing the MOTL experience first in Poland with Holocaust survivors and then in Israel was, and how it was the ultimate triumph of life and goodness over death and evil. Freya tells us that the importance of remembering and education is critical. Upon arriving in Israel for the second week of MOTL, the delegation was taken straight to the South to witness the October 7 devastation, which Freya finds difficult to describe, an "apocalyptic scene". Freya featured recently on the Josh Frydenberg documentary “Never Again - The Fight Against Antisemitism”, and tells us about the very hostile state of affairs at our universities, with the pro-Palestinian students wanting to create fear and intimidate the silent majority of supportive students for Israel and Jewish community into silence, so that any support for Israel is crushed with Zionists and Jews not welcome on university campuses. Freya also spoke at the Never Again Is Now rally in Brisbane over the weekend, which had another wonderful attendance and support for the Jewish community and Israel. Our L'Chaim listeners can follow Freya Leach and Never Again Is Now on social media: Instagram and FaceBook at freya.leach. For information on MOTL go to www.motl.com.au Title: Ramona Chrapot – An unapologetically proud Zionist and Jew (*from 40:37 mins) (Original broadcast date: March 13, 2024) Segment Podcast Link: https://omny.fm/shows/lchaim-to-life/ramona-chrapot-an-unapologetically-proud-zionist-a Description: Maurice Klein speaks with Ramona Chrapot, the social media officer at the Zionist Federation of Australia which in partnership with the Jewish Agency of Israel organised a week-long delegation of Australian Jewish youth leaders to visit Israel. Leading the mission, we hear from Ramona about the mission's visit to the October 7 devastated communities in Israel's south and to the Nova Festival massacre site, needless to say totally impactful along with the mission's visit to new Hostages Square in Tel Aviv, meeting and speaking with family members of the 134 hostages still in Gaza captivity. The mission met with leaders, communities and Israelis from all walks of life, who have united and come together to support each other and Israel through yet another threatening existential war that Israel must defend and prosecute for its continued survival and that of the Jewish people. The very important experience and messages that Ramona and the youth leaders returned to Australia with are that we as Jews in Australia who are also now in a war, a war of anti-Semitism, are to be standing tall and proud as Jews and Zionists in support and advocating for Israel. Omein to that, achdut. Bring Them Home Now. Follow Ramona Chrapot's ZFA's social media advocacy @_didjewknow. • L'Chaim - To Life S11 E15 (18-12-2024) with The Hon Tim Wilson, Harriet Warlow-Shill, Joel Schyer and Gareth Narunsky
    Dec 18 2024
The program is replayed Fridays between 2PM and 3PM on Melbourne’s 3ZZZ 92.3FM Title: The Hon Tim Wilson – Simply unacceptable that we got here (*from 1:52 mins) Description: Maurice Klein speaks with The Hon Tim Wilson, former Assistant Minister to the Minister for Industry, Energy and Emissions Reduction and former Liberal MP for Goldstein, who has been picked by his party to contest this seat at the next Federal election. Before entering politics, Tim was a policy director at the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) and served as Australia's Human Rights Commissioner. He contends that the current Australian Federal and State Labor Governments are failing the Australian Jewish Community, and as such are failing Australia. Tim believes Australia is at a crossroad and that the result of the next Federal election will define the Australian society of the future. The interview is preceded by an Israel At War Mythbuster featuring Tim who responds, with moral clarity, to a constituent who attempts to blindside him with a well aired myth propagated by the pro-Palestinian lobby about the war in Gaza. Title: KAN English News Flash – December 18, 2024 at 2PM IST (*from 26:11 mins) The latest English language radio news bulletin from KAN, the Israeli Broadcasting Service. Title: Harriet Warlow-Shill – COGAT: This is what we do, we look after people (*from 35:30 mins) Description: Morry Frenkel speaks with Harriet Warlow-Shill, lawyer and founding partner of Warlows Legal, about her opinion piece, “Hamas’s chilling betrayal of its own people”, published in the December 10th issue of the Australian Jewish News. Harriet describes the aid provided through the Coordinator of the Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) a unit in the Israeli Ministry of Defence. Prior to October 7, 2023, COGAT had a strong working relationship with various countries to deliver civil engineering projects, including a desalination plant that would have made Gaza self-sufficient in water and projects to address power shortages. COGAT also had signed contracts with the Palestinian Authority (PA), Qatar, and the EU to deliver natural gas to Gaza, which would have addressed their energy needs. On October 7, Hamas bombed their own electricity lines, cutting off 90% of Gaza's power and destroying critical water infrastructure, which contributed to the humanitarian crisis. In spite of the horrors of October 7, COGAT has continued its humanitarian work, coordinating the vaccination of 90% of children in Gaza against polio, facilitating the evacuation of 20,000 people through the Rafah Crossing before it was closed by Egypt, and working with UNICEF and other NGOs for aid delivery. Title: Joel Schyer – I am ready for my close-up, Mr Schyer (*from 45:46 mins) Description: Morry Frenkel speaks with Joel Schyer, a film student at the School of Film and Television at Swinburne University of Technology, about the film he will be directing in 2025: Something Rather. Joel talks about his love of film as a creative medium, the plot of the film, and his search for two actors (one female and one male), in addition to a house that will provide a location for the shoot. Listeners who would like to appear in Joel’s short film or have a house they believe can fulfil Joel’s requirements, should email him at: 103642968@student.swin.edu.au Title: Gareth Narunsky – Tomorrow’s AJN Headlines today (*from 58:17 mins) Description: We cross to Gareth Narunsky, the Australian Jewish News National Editor, for the headlines in this week’s edition of the paper.
