  • Lake Guntersville Fishing Report - Primed for Springtime Bass Bonanza
    Feb 15 2025
Hey there, fellow anglers It's Artificial Lure here, and I'm excited to share the latest fishing report for Lake Guntersville, Alabama, as of February 15th, 2025.

First off, let's talk about the weather. We're seeing a warmup after some colder spells, which is really getting the fish active. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-60s to low 70s today, making it an ideal day to hit the water. Sunrise is at around 6:30 AM, and sunset will be around 5:30 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to catch some big ones.

Lake Guntersville is known for its exceptional bass fishing, and right now, it's living up to its reputation. Despite the recent cold snaps, the bass are moving into their pre-spawn patterns as the water temperatures rise. Currently, the water temps are in the 42°F to 48°F range, but they're expected to creep up into the magical 50-55°F zone soon, which is when the bass really start to get aggressive[2][4].

Recently, anglers have been landing impressive numbers of bass. In the last week, guide trips have reported catching up to 26 bass in a single day, with the best five fish weighing between 18-22 pounds. The fish are distributed across three depth zones, so you'll need to be versatile with your techniques[4].

For lures, the red rattle trap, or lipless crankbait, is a timeless favorite here. As the water warms up, this lure becomes almost irresistible to the bass. Other effective baits include jerkbaits, freeloaders, and for those targeting crappie, hand-tied crappie jigs or Clobber Minnows have been doing well[1][2][4].

Now, let's talk about the hot spots. Brown Creek, Town Creek, North Sauty, and South Sauty are always top choices. These areas are rich in aquatic life and have plenty of lily pads, islands, and humps that bass love to hide around. The channels and creek ledges near Guntersville and Nickajack Dams are also prime spots, especially as the bass move into their pre-spawn areas[3][4].

If you're looking for a specific spot to try today, head over to Siebold Creek. The markers along the channel will lead you to some fantastic fishing grounds opposite the bank, islands, and humps. This area is full of largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass, and you can use a variety of rigging systems and rods to catch them[3].

In summary, Lake Guntersville is on fire right now. With the warming weather, active bass, and the right lures, you're set for a fantastic day of fishing. Get out there early, take advantage of the sunrise bite, and don't be afraid to experiment with different depths and techniques. Happy fishing, and I'll see you on the water

  • Lake Guntersville Fishing Report: Big Bass, Warming Waters, and Spring Patterns Ahead
    Feb 14 2025
Hey there, fellow anglers, this is Artificial Lure here to give you the latest fishing report for Lake Guntersville, Alabama, as of February 14, 2025.

First off, let's talk about the weather. We're looking at a beautiful day with temperatures expected to rise into the 70s later this week, which is perfect for getting those bass active. Today, it's a bit chilly, but that's not stopping the fish from biting. The skies are partly cloudy, ideal for a day on the water. Sunrise was at about 6:45 AM, and sunset will be around 5:15 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to catch those active fish.

Since Lake Guntersville is a freshwater lake, there's no tidal report to worry about, but the water levels have been stable, which is great for consistent fishing. The water temperature is still a bit cold, ranging from 42°F to 48°F, but this hasn't deterred the bass from their usual haunts.

The fishing on Lake Guntersville has been nothing short of phenomenal. Despite the colder temperatures, the bass are actively feeding, and we're seeing some impressive catches. Recently, anglers have been landing bass weighing in at three pounds or more, with some tipping the scales at up to six pounds. The lake is teeming with largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, and Alabama bass, making it a paradise for bass enthusiasts.

For the best results, you'll want to target areas such as Brown Creek, Town Creek, North Sauty, and South Sauty, as well as the areas around the Guntersville and Nickajack Dams. Siebold Creek is also a hotspot, with its markers along the channel leading you to some prime fishing grounds. The edge of the main river channel, particularly at ten to fifteen foot levels, is another prime spot.

When it comes to lures, heavy bait casting tackle with 14-17 pound test line is recommended due to the heavy weed growth. Effective lures include spinner baits, plastic worms, and jigs. A half-ounce jig and pig, as well as plastic worms, are particularly effective in the colder months. For those targeting other species like gar, live bait such as worms, frogs, and shiners can be very productive.

The recent warmup has seen fish begin to move to spring patterns, so be prepared to fish both deep and shallow waters. Crappie are being caught all the way from 30 to 4 feet deep, and the shallows are already hitting 65 degrees in some places.

In summary, Lake Guntersville is fishing exceptionally well right now. With the right approach, understanding of the conditions, and the correct lures, you can have a highly successful day on the water. Just remember to fish slowly and carefully, especially in the colder weather.

So, grab your gear and head out to Lake Guntersville – it's time to reel in some big ones. Happy fishing

  • Guntersville Bass Bonanza: Slay Trophy Fish in Alabama's Premier Freshwater Destination
    Feb 12 2025
Hello there, fellow anglers This is Artificial Lure, and I'm excited to share with you the latest fishing report for Lake Guntersville, Alabama, as of February 12th, 2025.

First off, let's talk about the weather. We've had a few bouts of extreme cold recently, but this hasn't dampened the fishing spirit here at Guntersville. In fact, the cold weather has made the fishing even better. Today, we're looking at partly cloudy skies with temperatures rising into the mid-50s by the afternoon. We're expecting a quick warmup into the 60s and 70s later this month, which should keep the fish active and hungry. Sunrise today is at around 6:45 AM, and sunset will be at about 5:15 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to get out on the water.

Since Lake Guntersville is a freshwater lake, there's no tidal report to worry about, but the water levels have been stable, which is great for consistent fishing. The water temperature is currently hovering around 45°F to 48°F, but this hasn't deterred the bass from their usual haunts.

The bass fishing at Lake Guntersville has been nothing short of phenomenal. Despite the cold snaps, the bass have adjusted well and are still very active. In recent guide trips, anglers have been averaging around 20-25 bass per day, with some real giants being caught. The average size of these bass is impressive, with many weighing in at around 3.75 pounds and some even exceeding 4 pounds. We've also seen some bass tipping the scales at up to six pounds.

The best spots to target these bass include Brown Creek, Town Creek, North Sauty, and South Sauty, as well as areas around the Guntersville and Nickajack Dams. This creek offers a mix of shallow and deep water, making it ideal for various fishing techniques.

When it comes to lures, you've got a variety of options that are working well. For those bigger fish, Tight-Line jigs and Swim jigs have been key. The SPRO Aruka Shad rattle bait has also been a go-to for catching numbers of bass. If you prefer a more aggressive approach, jerkbaits and freeloader baits have been producing excellent results, especially in current breaks near bait schools.

Locating groups of fish is crucial, as the bass are often found following bait in the creek ledges, particularly in depths of 12-19 feet. Using baits that mimic shad, such as the SPRO Aruka Shad, can be very effective.

For a couple of hot spots, I recommend checking out Brown Creek and Siebold Creek. Brown Creek offers a diverse environment with both shallow and deep water, making it perfect for different fishing techniques. Siebold Creek, with its islands, humps, and aquatic plants, provides a perfect environment for largemouth and smallmouth bass to feed and spawn.

In summary, Lake Guntersville is heating up, and now is a great time to get out there and catch some trophy bass.
