Lee Miller's Wartime Correspondence: Europe - Taster Episode
The Love Letters podcast series' explore the unedited letters, dispatches and articles written by the iconic photographer Lee Miller during WWII. The perspective and different tones in which she writes to her, editor, her lover (the Surrealist artist Roland Penrose), and friends give a deeper insight into Lee Miller's thoughts and experiences of the war in Europe.
Lee Miller’s Wartime Correspondence: Europe, is our third series of podcasts looking at the letters and writings of Lee Miller.
Over the course of this series’ episodes, we look at the documents she left behind, some of them open to the public eye for the first time, and present them in their unedited form. As you will hear, this gives a really unique view into Lee’s character - keep an ear out for her surrealism which wasn’t just present in her photography but her writing as well - especially in its unedited form!
'Letters are a very private view into relationships and peoples thoughts' Ami Bouhassane shares letters and manuscripts from her grandparents, held in the Lee Miller's Archives.
