This used to be a story of regret, but now there's a punchline. Follow Angella as she runs away from home in New Zealand at 17, to meet her British husband to-be: 46 year old Gary.

Angella gets her white, white wedding and finds bliss in the arms of her mother-in-law's handheld massager. 

Flashback! Angella reminisces about her childhood in New Zealand where Angella’s mother cheats on her father with Jesus Christ, and young Angella starts to believe in tough love....

The age gap between Gary and Angella starts to show. In a lovers’ tiff, she slowly lowers a framed photo of his ex-wife over his head and then baits him to call the cops. Surprise, surprise, she’s arrested.

Although Angella enjoys prison, she yearns to be reunited with Gary. When he finally visits, Angella brags that she’s best friends with a serial killer. He’s not impressed. She thinks she’s losing him.

Angella makes her first real friend in the UK, finds body confidence from strip searches, and is granted bail. Though she asks to stay in prison, her request is denied. Things get worse when Gary files for divorce. 

Angella completes Adam Sandler’s Anger Management class during her stint at the bail hostel and finds another old white guy to help fight Gary and her deportation. They fail. Finally, she calls her mum for help.

Angella is deported back to New Zealand and falls into stand-up comedy. She learns to love who she is and finds her people.
