Monday Mile with Aimee Fuller

Auteur(s): Monday Mile - By Aimee Fuller
  • Résumé

  • Former Team GB double winter Olympian, and no broadcaster and author Aimee Fuller is on a mission to find the secrets for Monday motivation from some of the most successful sports men and women of our time and other well-known celebrities which will drop every week. Aimee will be probing for answers from the full spectrum of routines; the early birds who have finely tuned Monday mornings, to the late risers who struggle to get up before 11am. How do elite athletes find the motivation to kick start their week come rain or shine? How do celebrities deliver no matter what the time of day? What knowledge can they pass on?’ Each episode will drop on a Monday morning and plays out in real time. Aimee will meet each of her guests for a walk and a chat and over the course of the mile she will find out how they cope on a Monday morning - their idiosyncrasies, breakfast routines, alarm noises - and how, when they need to, find the motivation to kick-on through the week. Dropping every Monday as a bitesize 23-35 minute piece of content and weekly dose of motivation - right when you need it - sharing some of Britain's greatest athletes’ secrets on self-motivation, candid thoughts on what they struggle with and a sideways look at some of their more unusual morning habits.

  • S12 Ep5: SUE BARKER ON HER BROADCASTING LEGACY, FUTURE ‘QUESTION OF SPORT’ TOUR PLANS AND ANDY MURRAY’S RETIREMENT
    Jul 28 2024
I’m joined by a literal legend in this week’s Monday Mile – the one and only Sue Barker. She’s an ex-professional tennis player turned world class sports broadcaster, best known for her coverage of Wimbledon, the Olympics and Question of Sport. She’s a huge role model for me, and I’m so proud to call her a friend.
Sue tells me the story of how she broke down barriers to succeed in the male-dominated field of sports broadcasting, landing several prestigious presenting roles. She’s synonymous with Wimbledon, and she returned to Centre Court just weeks ago to say an emotional farewell to Andy Murray, whose final professional matches take place this week. Her rundown of his career is a fascinating insight from someone who had a front row view of it all.
With her legacy cemented, she’s keen to see others thrive in the positions where she made her name – including me! She’s helped me immensely, and I’m so happy to be able to give you all a taste of her wisdom too.

  • S12 Ep4: KYE WHYTE ON WINNING AN OLYMPIC MEDAL, HIS CHILDHOOD AND LOOKING AHEAD TO PARIS
    Jul 21 2024
Another week of the #MondayMile podcast, and I’m joined by the ‘Prince of Peckham’ - BMX superstar @kyewhyte

Kye has been riding since the age of 3, joined by his brothers on the track. With their dad coaching them too, it's clear BMX runs in his blood.
He won a silver medal at his first Olympic games at the INCREDIBLE age of 21, becoming the first ever British athlete to win a medal for BMX racing – how insane!
We delve deep into Kye’s childhood, growing up in Peckham and how BMX ‘kept [him] on the right path’. We even discuss that iconic moment that appeared in every British newspaper, where he picked up his friend and teammate @bethanyshriever after she clinched the gold medal
Kye is a true champion of the people, and I can’t wait to see him smash it in Paris. Fingers crossed for the gold!

  • S12 Ep3: RICHARD WHITEHEAD ON INCLUSIVITY IN THE PARALYMPICS, RESILIENCE AND HIS LEGACY
    Jul 14 2024
This week on the #MondayMile podcast, I’m joined by the incredible @richard_whitehead_mbe; the double amputee athlete best known for his world record setting performances in the Paralympics and the full and half marathons. What can’t this man do?
We chat about the duality of Richard’s career - going from the marathon to the 200m and back again - and how he’s quite literally pushing the boundaries of sport to compete and advocate for disabled athletes.
Richard and I also dig into the topic of inclusivity in the Paralympics. He shares his thoughts on what can be improved, the responsibility on the shoulders of all Paralympic and Olympic athletes, as well as how all members of society can contribute. It’s quite the call to action.
A hugely inspiring chat with an incredibly inspiring guy!
