Coming to terms with myself as a senior is a daily occupation. Every day I'm surprised to find myself this old.

    Friendships matter more than ever.

My shopping list for now: humor, decent health insurance, friends who keep your secrets.

Can I Trust This Feeling? S2/E19-43

Watching all the nights of the Democratic National Convention was transformative. I used a ton of kleenex.

It was brilliant, emotional, and uplifting.

We are having a moment, folks. And there's gold in them thar hills. Keep the kleenex handy.

We All Dodged a Bullet S2:E41

The world can flip flop in seconds and we are left to figure it out.

There's gold in every event and it's our task to pan for it and boy is it worth the effort.

Everything is different now and we didn't see it coming. We all dodged a bullet.

Tim Walz for Father of Our Nation

It's been a harrowing time as we march on to the election. One upending surprise after another seems to be the order of the day.

And then along came Tim. To accompany Kamala. Suddenly, hope has emerged and we feel energized.

My father was born 111 years ago today. He inspired this episode. I hope he feels proud of his accomplishments.

I Lift Things Up and Put Them Down

as I ready myself for Paris and Vienna. I have not been to Europe in 30 years, so my travel-related learning curve is vertical!

My home is divided into staging areas as I continually assess if it's too heavy. If it will fit. If I still have room for new treasures.

YouTube videos have guided this journey. I'll be sending podcast dispatches along the way.

Getting Picked for the Jury of a Criminal Trial

was, duh, inspired by the Trump Show now appearing at the New York Criminal Courthouse at 100 Centre Street.

I remembered that in the 70's I had served on the jury of a murder trial there that was a life changing experience. It was real.

What it took to get picked! And what I learned that gives me comfort to this day.

Their Marriage Ran Out Like a 30 Day Appliance Warrantee

Is my free form rant about the Golden Bachelor news. After 3 months, Gerry and Theresa are getting a divorce. This shocked Bachelor Nation and me too.

I am Not a member of BN but I watched, analyzed, and made fun of every episode. Also the wedding, the Tell All and now the End of the Road.

They will have to return some of the gifts.

I know what scuttled the marriage. I think you'll agree.

    Pick Up After Yourself

Our lovely planet is overwhelmed with waste. I do what I can to be a good global citizen. I use what I take, don't throw nasty things in the trash, and generally work at minimizing my carbon footprint.

One of the most famous sites on the planet, Mt. Everest, is now addressing some of these issues in very practical ways.
