  • Celebrating love with Tara Joy and the Elijiah Legacy Project
    Feb 24 2025
Because it’s Valentine’s Day, we want to talk about love – specifically, the love of a mother who fought like hell to save her son. Our guest is Tara Joy, an energy healer, aesthetician and a mother of four whose oldest son, Elijah Chavis, transitioned in December of 2023, inspiring the Elijah Legacy Project, a non profit that helps young adults battling cancer, as well as their caregivers, fight the fear of the unknown by putting focus on the present with love, strength and resilience. The project is committed to making a lasting impact on the lives of young adults facing cancer by building a world where everyone touched by cancer feels loved, uplifted and empowered to live each day with purpose. www.elijahlegacyproject.com

  • A chat about compassion with Kind Conversations About Cannabis Director Lesley Nickus
    Jan 14 2025
In this season of giving, we thought we would talk this month about the work being done in compassion care, the cornerstone of our business and one shared by many advocates trying to make cannabis medicine accessible to those who really need it. Kind Conversations About Cannabis is an award-winning series of documentary shorts that highlight the healing powers of belonging for veterans, trauma sruvivors, chronically ill people and those facing end-of-life. In this episode, we interview Director and Executive producer Lesley Nickus about some of the successes and challenges of getting cannabis medicine to those who really need it. We also talk about the early years of prop 215 where medical groups were legal and what happened when prop 64 (recreational legality) decimated that and made most people working in compassionate care go underground. Go to www.scaryplants.com to purchase apparel or sponsor an episode to keep the kind conversations going or on instagram @scaryplants.
