  • Procurement Says No Ep39 Predicting the predictable
    Jan 5 2026
Last year (and the year before) Rich and Ed made a whole load of procurement predictions - and a few others. Now it's crunch time as we find out how many came true.

Virtually all of them it turns out. What a pair of prediction-genius-types!
    • ESG - correct
    • Tariffs - correct
    • Befriending IT - correct
    • Obvious stuff from CAPS and Deloitte is true - correct
    • Recession in the West - well, close
    • COP30 - correct
    • Amazon - correct
    • A mysterious leader will emerge from the sea and form an aquatic emprie - correct (sort of)
    • Kearney talking nonsense - correct
    • CIPs resurgence (helped by us of course) - correct
And now we have a whole load of more predictions - so get ready to place your bets - possibly everything on black Or was it red?

So, just by listening to Procurement Says No you can potentially make millions of dollars in bet winnings by gambling your house on our predictions (which we don't recommend by the way).

P.s. We're not sure if "bug people from the moon will eat all the cheese on Earth" will be accurate but it still stands in our list.

  • Ask Rich & Ed Ep16 - Are you interimming?
    Dec 22 2025
...no it's just the way I walk.

We get lots of questions from our listener on Procurement Says No...now you can listen to them all again in our series of mini bite-sized podcast chunks. Like dog food. Except in headphone cans, not actual cans. Sort of.

In episode 16 we are still banging on about consultants, and you ask - is it better to use a big global consultancy (discuss); how to deal with a stakeholder who used to work for a consultancy they now want to use; why IT enterprise software vendors don't do their own implementations; would we recommend a career in interim management; and how best to use interims in your procurement function.

All of the procurement questions, all of the time.

  • Procurement Says No Ep38 Christmas Economic Meltdown
    Dec 15 2025
Rich and Ed welcome back Dr John Glen from Cranfield and CIPS to discuss more economic things such as: the Japanese economy; chips in the UK and Europe; austerity's role in the UK's lack of growth; the decline of political debate (and rise of Celebrity Traitors); whether the WEF is the beginning of Spectre; when AI will begin to make all the decisions; and, who is John's favourite economist?

All this plus some more entirely predictable news about public sector tenders being required over the holiday period (how many due on New year's Eve???); Rich's identity fraud; and some made up procurement lists (we thought the days of lists were numbered, but no).

It's also lightly sprinkled with Christmas glad tidings so listen now - or indeed over the Christmas hols!

  • Procurement Says No Ep37 It's the economy, stupid
    Dec 5 2025
Rich and Ed welcome super duper guest Dr John Glen to answer the question "how's the big global economy doing at the moment?".

John is visiting professor at Cranfield University and Chief Economist at CIPS so he answers a load of other questions too, such as: is economic reconfiguration inevitable; what's the longer term economic view; is this the end of liberal democracy; how to sum up the UK budget; is it the end for the UN, COP30, G20 (delete where applicable); how do we grow the UK economy; and can global protectionism ever be successful?

It all sounds very serious. But fear not, because we've kept it lighthearted and tried to ignore that we're all doomed.

We've also got news from McKinsey and Magenta Associates on the use of AI tools - and it's all a bit obvious really! And news about the German defence industry circumventing EU procurement rules; plus exciting threshold changes in the UK's public procurement and, shock - possible corruption in the Chinese defence industry.

Can you afford NOT to listen? We don't think so.

And hope you like the blue logo!

  • Ask Rich & Ed Ep15 - How do I change management?
    Nov 17 2025
We get lots of questions from our listener on Procurement Says No...now you can listen to them all again in our series of mini bite-sized podcast chunks. Like dog food. Except in headphone cans, not actual cans. Sort of.

In episode 15 we continue a theme all about consultants and you ask - what's the wort part of being a consultant; how to tender a consulting engagement (with thanks to Liam Neilson); and how to measure the value add of a change management programme.

All of the procurement questions, all of the time.

  • Procurement Says No Ep36 AI Cyber Monkeys
    Nov 4 2025
Well, if there are themes in procurement at the moment then they are AI, cyber and something else - possibly monkeys. Rich and Ed discuss two of these in depth - including whether we'll ever have an AI procurement companion-bot.

We have news on what CAPS data is telling us now about how procurement people spend their time (same old); how Peter Smith is finding sex-bots; less chocolate on your Club (and Penguin); and THREE insightful surveys brought to you courtesy of 100 CIPS procurement people in a room in Birmingham.

We also find out that we reached "peak procurement" in 1985. Apparently.

We have more questions from listeners - this time on cyber insurance, outsourcing cyber defence and what exactly is a SOW? (Spoiler - not a pig).

Plus some incredible thought leadership to help you create a procurement vision and develop your organisation using the "Procurement Sophistication Nexus".

Plus double plus Diella, the AI procurement bot from Albania, makes an appearance (sort of).

All this plus plus plus more crap procurement jokes.
