    Jan 4 2022

Episode 38 is now live! We’re getting a little Irish and Roman Catholic today, by discussing people who may not even be real - Domenica’s laying out the lives of two saints, St. Brigid of Kildare and St. John the Apostle. We learn many valuable lessons from these two, such as how to turn down potential suitors and how to deal with jealous bullies in your Apostle group. Join us for this first installment in a sporadic series, a la our Am I The Asshole segments, for more life lessons, like how to not test your own loyalty to your partner and how to leave Galilee to be a groupie for Jesus.

  • 37. The Lavender Scare
    Dec 12 2021

Let us welcome Cory back into the real world, from the deep, insurance pit she has been living in! Which also means she is back to hosting after the three-part Hirschfeld saga! She is presenting the Lavender Scare, during the 1940s-1960s when the federal government was persecuting and firing for being gay their own employees in misplaced fear they were communists and tyrannists. So, the usual bullshit. Forget any preconceptions you have as we dive in together, because DAMN it's a wild messed up ride. On the bright side, we have some returning characters in this episode and in a happy coincidence we mentioned the same protest! Join us for some classic American Criticism that will cost us any sponsors and find out for sure if there's really an x-ray that can tell you if someone's gay.

FINALLY, we have reached the end of our series on Magnus Hirschfeld. But first we talk about Moulin Rouge: The Musical. And insurance enrollment periods. But we eventually get there! This week we expand more on the Institute for Sexual Research (or whichever name you’d like to choose), the world tour he embarked on that should have came way earlier in his research, the end of his life, and his continuing legacy. Join us while we learn about love’s natural turns, the weird then supportive statements he made all over the world, and the whitest name you’ve ever heard.

  • 34. Magnus Hirschfeld Part 1
    Oct 24 2021

Queer Qulture is back with episode 34! Sorry for such a long delay, we have had a lot going on so we had to adjust our schedule. We will now be posting every other week for the foreseeable future. Today’s episode is about the multi-level-marketing king Magnus Hirschfeld. Hirschfeld was a Physician, sexologist, and founder of the Institute of Sexual Research. Domenica discusses his life and research, while he contributed to theories about sexuality and gender that seem obvious to us now, at the time his ideas were revolutionary. Domenica also sheds some light on terrible opinions he had and bad decisions he made that history conveniently decides to leave out. Hirschfeld had such a busy life that his story could not be contained in one episode! Join us again on November 7th to hear the rest!

  • 32. Compton's Cafeteria Riot
    Sep 28 2021

Welcome to episode 32!! Try not to share your germs when you share this episode, ye a smack cometh your way. This week’s topic is Compton’s Cafeteria Riot in 1966! Does this sound familiar? On a hot summer night, years of police harassment aimed at young trans and gay sex workers boiled over when the queer community fought back against their oppressors. This event in San Francisco, three years prior to Stonewall, was almost purposefully forgotten to history. Thankfully, elders and filmmakers came forward to share the stories of what happened that night, and we reflect on that importance while also mourning every other riot, protest, or fight that has been lost to time. In the wise words of Donna Persona, “Fuck that shit, gimme my rights”!
