  • Little Known Facts about the Civil Rights Movement with Kathleen Steele

    Kathleen Steel introduces three significant women who were an integral part of the Civil Rights Movement. Mamie Till Mobley the mother of Emmet Till who played a major role in starting the Civil Rights Movement. Ameila Boynton Robinson in 1934 at the age of 23 was one of the first African American voters to pass the literacy test. A test designed for African Americans to pass prior to voting. In 1964, she was the first African American woman to seek a seat in Congress. Dorothy Heights was honored by President Bill Clinton in 1994 and by President George Bush in 2004 and received medals. Ms. Heights with many significant accomplishments, played a major role in the construction of the March on Washington and organized Wednesdays in Mississippi where she supported women's right to vote.

The students manage a Radio and TV station in a professional studio where they investigate, plan, create and evaluate concepts to include strategic concepts for Broadcast success. They manage all functions of the Elliott Hines Network known as EHN to include recruitment and interviewing. The interview list boast local and national politicians including President Joe Biden, First Lady Michelle Obama, the Mayor of Washington DC; movie stars on the "Red Carpet", and professional athletes to name a few. This episode shares their stories of learning, doing and being!
