In this episode, I speak with Jin Zhou, co-founder of Purilogics.  As a kid, Jin grew up around a family of entrepreneurs and he thought that was something he wanted to do at an early age; however, after graduating he was encouraged by his family to get his PhD.  He attended Clemson University.  It was towards the end of receiving that PhD that one of his professors talked to him about starting Purilogics.  He says he has always had a knack in his entrepreneurial journey to find resources to help teach him valuable business skills he did not get in his formal educational studies.  He talks about with an early-stage startup company why it is important on working to control your stress and pressure and to realize the journey is going to be an emotional roller coaster.

In this episode I speak with Bill West of Ellipsis Technologies.  He talks about moving to Greenville to run a company with an expectation of staying onboard for 2 years...and he has never left!  I asked his advice about raising money for a start-up company.  He said the traditional first round of funding is usually your friends and family.  This will allow you to evaluate your company concept.  He talks about the importance of giving your employees equity in the company.  He recommends providing this to as many people within the company as possible so that you are aligned with your shareholders.

In this episode I speak with Steve Thies of Integrated Biometrics, otherwise known as IB.  Steve served as CEO until this past July when he announced his retirement.  He became the CEO after first serving as a silent investor of IB.  The company was recognized on the Inc 5000 list for six consecutive years under his leadership.
