    Our fourth CES 2025 Highlights featured three great speakers.

    Tim Balz from Kalagon introduced smart seating technology to prevent pressure sores, clinically proven to reduce pain and fatigue, and fully reimbursable under Medicare.

    Rajeev Ramanath from Blueberry Technology presented BBGo, an autonomous wheelchair initially for airports, achieving 98% satisfaction and reducing personnel-to-vehicle ratios.

    Tomek Stomski from Vasco Electronics showcased their translation devices, including earbuds for natural conversation, available in 25 countries, with a focus on healthcare and travel.

    Our CES 2025 highlights shows continued with this third episode featuring caregiver-friendly products for aging adults.

    Ted Fischer from Ageless Innovation discussed their Joy for All brand, which includes robotic pets and games designed to combat loneliness and isolation. They introduced a new game for CES 2025 - Yahtzee Slots.

    Lisa Lavin from Ōmcare introduced their Home Health Hub, a device that integrates medication dispensing with video calls to enhance caregiver efficiency and patient adherence.

    Jacob (Jake) Loader from Threshold Care presented the Motion Wi-Fi Sensing Plugs, which use Wi-Fi signal disruptions to monitor activity without intrusive cameras.

    We talked about CES 2025 with Steve Ewell. Steve has a newly established position as VP, Consumer Technology Association Accessibility and Age Tech, demonstrating the importance that CTA is placing on this area. This is the Working Group link. Steve also continues as Exec. Director CTA Foundation.

    This episode continued our CES 2025 Highlights with part 2.

    Kota Ageiwa of Thinkie Inc. discussed the development and testing of their Android / iOS app, which, with a brain activity sensor, uses neurofeedback to improve cognitive function.

    Bryce Folsom of eLife Health introduced a system that integrates health information into driver's licenses for faster emergency response, emphasizing the importance of paramedic accessibility.

    Allyson Schreier and Bill Uniowski of Zinnia TV shared their app designed for dementia patients, which reduces anxiety and agitation, and has been tested to reduce antipsychotic medication use. Zinnia TV videos aim to enhance cognitive function and daily living for the aging population.

    We expressed our appreciation to a great CES for us in the accessibility and AgeTech space to Steve Ewell, co-host and Executive Director of the Consumer Technology Association Foundation, which is the charitable arm tied to CTA, which is the group that runs CES. He is also CTA’s Vice President of Accessibility and AgeTech.

  • CES 2025 Vision Tech Highlights with .lumen, eSight and Lighthouse Guild

    Our first CES 2025 Highlights show featured three Vision Tech expert speakers.

    Cornel introduced .lumen, a self-driving headset for the visually impaired, which uses haptics and audio feedback, aiming for a cost of about $10,000. .lumen was part of the Nvidia Inception program in 2021.

    Roland discussed eSight, a $4,950 device for central vision loss, fully reimbursed by Veteran Affairs. And described the robust eSight user community.

    Bryan highlighted Lighthouse Guild's services, including medical, rehabilitation, and technology resources, emphasizing the importance of community and advocacy for the visually impaired.

    Our discussion also covered the prevalence of vision loss as we age, especially macular degeneration, and the need for early detection. Bryan also explained the difference between the Glide device from Guidance and .lumen which both use haptics.

  • Nutrition and Hydration with Strategic Dining Services and OrthoFoodie

    Both speakers agreed on the significance of personalized nutrition and the role of fresh, nutrient-dense foods in maintaining health and managing chronic conditions.

    Mischulaikah explained micro and macro nutrients and how the OrthoFoodie app works. She brought up inflammation and there was a general discussion on foods that are good and bad for inflammation including turmeric.

    Cris Carter emphasized the importance of nutrient-rich foods in senior living, including a hydration program and anti-inflammatory diets. He explained how their “Oh So Good” and other programs including “Puree with Purpose” promote healthier and visually appealing food options for “Dining with Dignity”.
