  • Chester Simpson and Joel Selvin
    Nov 25 2021
Chester Simpson is a highly sought-after Washington D.C.-based photographer whose current work runs the gamut from corporate events, portraiture and annual reports, to advertising and editorial assignments. Years ago, however, Chester cut his teeth shooting music in San Francisco beginning in the early '70s, where he and Joel found themselves running in the same circles. After freelancing for years for magazines like Rolling Stone, Chester moved back east and eventually found himself hired to travel the globe with the USO, a gig which saw him photograph scores of artists ranging from Clint Back to La Toya Jackson on over 30 tours. Many people know Joel Selvin from his weekly column in the San Francisco Chronicle, which ran for close to 40 years. He has also written nearly 20 books about pop music, published countless magazine articles and interviews for Rolling Stone, Melody Maker and others, and contributed liner notes to dozens of albums. Mar 8 2021
Graham Nash is a legendary singer/songwriter and musician, co-founder of the Hollies and later Crosby, Stills and Nash, and also an accomplished photographer. Alec Byrne covered the music scene in London in the late '60s and early '70s, during which time he photographed every major artist of the day, including both the Hollies and Crosby Stills and Nash. His work, which was stored in his garage for nearly 40 years, finally re-emerged in 2017 in the book LONDON ROCK: The Unseen Archive. © 2021 Rock Photography Museum
