On this weeks Today With Adrianne Murphy, as part of Alzheimer’s Month, the fifth annual Alzheimer’s Memory Walk takes place nationwide on Sunday, 22 nd September, and Michelle Shiel, from The Alzheimer Society of Ireland’s Day Care Centre in Castlerea, is urging people to come walk with her on the Roscommon Memory Walk around the Demesne, Castlerea. On this week's Today with Adrianne Murphy, Hugh O’Donoghue, Alzheimer's Society of Ireland’s Communications Officer discusses the theme of this year’s Alzheimer’s Month ‘Time to Act’ and how the public can get involved in helping this awareness campaign. World Alzheimer's Day, part of Alzheimer's Month, is observed every year on the 21st of September, with the objective of creating awareness about the misconception of Dementia and Alzheimer's, and to encourage and support the families of Alzheimer-affected patients to tackle and fight it.

On this week's Today with Adrianne Murphy, The Irish Heart Foundation supports people in Ireland with heart disease or who have suffered stroke, they also try to raise awareness of how to prevent both. JT Treanor is a member of the Health Promotion Team with the Irish Heart Foundation and Adrianne spoke to him to discuss how to look after your heart, the supports available, and the various events they have planned this Autumn. World Heart Day on the 29th of September is a day when monuments around the world will light up red to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease.
