  • In this exploration we invite Retired Judge John Goodrich to walk us through the development and facets of employment law from the inception of the old industrial tribunal to now what are employment tribunals. John explores the increasing complexities and how agreement can be achieved with the correct grounding in what could be perceived as a very adversarial system. We also discuss the challenges for certain individuals as legal aid has been pegged back at a time where the system complexity is driving the necessity for more professional legal input, vs. the more historical informal representation, such as trade union representation. We pose whether this system is going to be cyclical with a need for a review, especially finding mediation or agreement more quickly will be better for society as well as those involved.
