Saving America Week in Review with Guests Mandy Gunasekara and John Gardner

  • Résumé

    • The loss and devastation caused by Hurricane Helene is staggering – and this is coming from the Gulf Coast, where we certainly see our share. I urge all levels of government to act now to help the rebuilding effort. There is no time to play politics on this!
    • America has kicked the government shutdown can down the road, sacrificing election integrity on the altar of fear.
    • Israel is finally beginning to assert itself with organized, sustained attacks against the Iran-backed terrorist groups that threaten it. Will the next step be targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities? Only time will tell.
    • Four years after Trump got the Abraham Accords signed, trade is booming between the Middle Eastern countries in question. Though the accords were signed for economic reasons, hopefully this is a step toward peaceful coexistence in the region.
    • After 2 hard-fought years, Russia has taken the Vuhledar from Ukraine, gaining access to an important railroad line connecting Crimea and the Donbas region. Realists are cautioning that Russia is ahead in the war and unlikely to lose, despite Zelensky’s optimistic claims to the contrary.
    • The VP debate was, candidly, a big yawn. It represents 2 hours of my life I’ll never get back, and was simply irrelevant to the presidential election.
    • China’s newest nuclear submarine sank in its dock, which is admittedly a little funny. But the U.S. must develop a major fleet of nuclear subs, while continuing to advance technologically, to ensure it remains in control.
    • Ford has announced the Support Belt, which is a seat belt accessory meant to help mastectomy patients ride comfortably in cars – and they’re giving them away for free on their website.
    • This week I met up with Mandy Gunasekara, who was Chief of Staff at the EPA under Trump, to talk about why America needed to pull out of the Paris accord, the problem of the Deep State, and the solutions she suggests in her new book “Y’all Fired: A Southern Belle’s Guide to Restoring Federalism and Draining the Swamp.”
    • Consortium News is suing Newsguard & the Pentagon, claiming that their 1st amendment rights are being violated – and their allegations do hold water.
    • It is long past time for America to pivot its primary focus away from mere social trends and back to actual existential issues, such as the increasingly dangerous cold war with China.
    • The Longshoreman strike was set to have substantial economic impact – and miraculously, it’s been delayed until after the election. I smell a rat.
    • Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs has been arrested for a litany of serious crimes, including racketeering and sex trafficking, and has been denied bail twice (so far) for fear he’ll attempt to intimidate witnesses. -
    • The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the Republicans, who sued to reinstate a law that requires Arizona voters to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote.
    • SCOTUS recently ruled that pregnant women in Idaho who are facing medical emergencies can still receive abortions when medically necessary – for now.
    • My guest this week is John Gardner, who went from high school dropout to major manufacturing entrepreneur. Listen in as we chat about his journey, the problem of offshoring labor, and his book “Manufacture Local: How to Make America the Manufacturing Superpower of the World.”
    • In North Carolina, a 16-year-old sued his school after they suspended him for using the phrase “illegal alien” when asking his teacher a question about an assignment.
    • The ACLU used to be an organization that stood up for equal rights for minorities, which is a worthy cause. But it now stands for opposing basic American values, and has long outlived its usefulness.
