  • From Ivy League to Prison to Millionaire – Ken Miller’s Story of Radical Change
    Nov 2 2025

From Ivy League to Prison to Millionaire – Ken Miller’s Story of Radical ChangeKen Miller went from Dartmouth graduate to homeless crack addict to convicted felon - then built himself into a millionaire business owner. In this conversation, he shares what actually changed and how he did it.What you'll learn: • The difference between reaction and action - and how to create the gap that changes everything• How to stop working on yourself endlessly and start giving out instead • The power of secrets and why sharing them takes away their control over you • How shame says "I am" but guilt says "I did" and why that distinction matters • How to identify your core issue and work with it instead of being controlled by it • The truth about accountability and why doing things for others works when doing them for yourself failsKen spent 21 years homeless, cycling between shelters, treatment centers, jail, and prison. He was released in 2007 with $22 and nothing else. Today he owns five businesses and mentors men coming out of similar situations, but this isn't a motivational story about willpower - it's an honest conversation about fear, pride, self-talk, and the hard work of actually changing. He talks about the moment in prison when he heard God say "we can do this," working through his secrets with a counselor, learning to create space between stimulus and response, and why being "well" means you're not in battle with yourself anymore. This is a conversation about truth, accountability, and what it actually takes to become a different person.Subscribe for more conversations about clarity, growth, and getting unstuck.#recovery #addiction #personaltransformation #prison #redemption #sobriety #mentalhealth #accountability #selfawareness #personalgrowth #businessowner #secondchances #changeyourlife #overcomingadversity #realstories

  • Your 100% Changes Every Day - Here's How to Adjust
    Oct 5 2025

Giving 100% doesn't mean the same thing every day. In this episode, I share what I learned from years of pushing too hard and how adjusting your effort based on reality changed everything. What you'll learn: • Why your 100% changes based on health, stress, age, and circumstances • How pushing through everything actually makes problems worse • The difference between giving your best and burning yourself out • How to honestly assess what you're capable of each day • Why adjusting your effort isn't quitting - it's being smart about sustainabilityI spent years as a loser making terrible choices, then overcame it by grinding nonstop. But that approach eventually broke down. Lung infections, thyroid issues, aging - life throws things at you that change what you're capable of. The key is asking yourself every morning: "How am I feeling, and what does 100% look like today?"Some days you swing for the fences. Other days your best looks different. Both are valid. Both are giving everything you've got.Learn to adjust without giving up. That's how you sustain success without destroying yourself in the process.Subscribe for more practical advice on clarity, growth, and getting unstuck.#productivity #burnout #mentalhealth #selfawareness #personalgrowth #motivation #worklifebalance #executivecoaching #mindfulness #leadership

  • You Are Not Your Thoughts
    Oct 2 2025

After teaching meditation for years and working as a therapist, I've watched this one insight transform more lives than anything else: you are not your thoughts. What you'll discover: • Why you can't actually control your thoughts (try not thinking of a balloon right now) • How your mind constantly reflects reality with commentary • The difference between observing thoughts and being trapped by them • Why 60,000 thoughts per day means you can't take them all seriously • How to step behind the running commentary in your headHere's the thing: Your mind is like a screen constantly showing you reality, but it doesn't stop there. It adds commentary. It judges. It criticizes. It tells stories about what everything means. But here's what's wild - you can observe that process happening. Anything you can observe is not you.The practical part: Start with five minutes twice a day. Just sit and watch your thoughts come and go. Notice the running commentary. Don't judge it or try to change it. Just watch. This isn't about becoming some enlightened guru. It's about recognizing that the voice in your head telling you stories isn't actually you. When you realize this, you can assess whether those thoughts are true. You can decide if you want to act on them. The result: You stop being at the mercy of every random thought that pops up. You can laugh at yourself. You become less critical of others and yourself. You start to see the difference between what's actually happening and the story your mind creates about it.This practice changes everything. I wish we taught this to kids in school.Connect: James@JamesScottHenson.com#Meditation #Mindfulness #PersonalDevelopment #SelfAwareness #MentalHealth #Thoughts #Consciousness #InnerWork #Mindset

  • Your Life is a Balloon - One Bad Habit Can Pop Everything
    Sep 30 2025

After working as a therapist and coach for over two decades, I've watched the same pattern destroy successful people over and over. They excel in 90% of their life but let one area slide, and that 10% wrecks everything. What you'll learn: • Why your life is like a balloon (poke one hole, the whole thing explodes) • The "harmless" habits that secretly sabotage high performers• Why unchecked ego destroys business owners and executives • The compound interest effect working for you or against youCommon life-wreckers I've witnessed: • Late-night Netflix binges stealing tomorrow's energy. • Social drinking that becomes functional alcoholism. • Anger destroying careers with one outburst.• P*rn addiction derailing marriages. • Ego trips costing people their companies. • Neglecting health until everything falls apart. Here's what I know: You can't compartmentalize your way out of consequences. There's no "work you" versus "home you." It's one life. Weakness in any area infects everything else. The bottom line: Stop believing you can be a disaster in one area and excel everywhere else. Small leaks sink big ships. This isn’t about perfection. It's about honesty. Look at what's not working. Don't be dramatic about it. Make a plan. Do something about it.Connect: James@JamesScottHenson.com#LifeBalance #PersonalDevelopment #BadHabits #Accountability #LifeCoaching #Leadership #Discipline
