  • 'Sorry Wrong Number,' first aired on the Suspense Radio Program in 1943. Orson Welles called 'Sorry Wrong Number,' the single greatest radio script ever written. This radio play is a delicious mixture of suspense and crime with its two stars, Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster.
The idea for the radio play, which was written by Lucille Fletcher, came to her while she was in a deli in Manhattan. Fletcher noticed a well-dressed woman with an obnoxious manner in the line-up ahead of her. This unpleasant woman was the inspiration for the character of Mrs Stevenson.
What dark fantasies was Lucille Fletcher having as she waiting in that grocery story line-up while she waited to pay for her bread, milk and a dozen eggs? Do you have dark fantasies?
Mary Labrie and co-host Greg Flynn talk about the writing, the actors, the fabulous screaming, and the technology behind this feast for your ears.
Brought to you by Women of a Certain Age, award-winning producer of podcasts and radio.
