    Sep 9 2023
In this episode of the Start Carnivore podcast, host Chris Pearson interviews Tom Hammaker about his experience with the carnivore diet. Tom initially tried carnivore to combat his afternoon fatigue and brain fog. In the beginning, he ate mostly pork and chicken but found the lack of fat unsatisfying. Once he switched to fatty ribeye steaks, Tom found the diet much easier to stick with. He saw many benefits including steady energy, no afternoon crash, reduced hunger and cravings, better sleep, and improved gym performance. However, Tom did experience some initial irritability and dehydration as his body adjusted to running on fat instead of carbs. Overall, the carnivore diet helped Tom simplify his eating, free up mental energy, and feel consistently energetic during the day. • Start Carnivore 002: Joshua Lee Henry - From Disruptive Ulcerative Colitis to Thriving Carnivore
    Sep 9 2023
After suffering for 10 long years with painful and disruptive ulcerative colitis symptoms, Joshua Lee Henry finally got diagnosed in 2012. Doctors put him on steroids and other meds, which helped initially but weren't a sustainable solution. In 2013, he eliminated processed foods, grains, and other inflammatory triggers from his diet, which made a big difference. But it wasn't until early 2022 when Joshua decided to go all-in on the carnivore diet that he truly started to thrive. In just 5 short weeks of eating only animal products, Joshua lost an astonishing 36 pounds, dropping from 209 to 173. He largely stuck with the meat-only regimen since then, with a few small modifications here and there. The years of dreadful stomach pains, embarrassing digestive issues, and constant discomfort from colitis were finally over. Joshua had successfully put his disease into remission through his diet. But some doctors still didn't believe it was possible or refused to acknowledge the role of nutrition. Unlike conventional docs, Joshua's integrative medicine practitioners fully supported his carnivore approach. And his entire family embraced real food, grass-fed meats, and organic local ingredients as their mode of eating. No one was on the standard American diet in this household. Joshua also noticed the complete disappearance of stress eating tendencies and food cravings on carnivore. He no longer experienced intense hunger pangs either, just a subtle "low fuel" feeling when it was time to eat again. Joshua's health is the best it's been in over a decade thanks to going carnivore. His symptoms are minimal, his fitness is improving, and his family is thriving.
