This week Tethered Souls continues the discussion on what is the Socratic Method and how it fits in one's philosophical journey toward truth, understanding, and genuine knowledge. We take a dip in Plato's Symposium by addressing the nature of love, eros, and how it contributes to the overall nature of philosophy as well as an instance of the Socratic discussion.

Herein we discuss the nature of philosophy through the lens of the Socratic method as a vehicle to truth, knowledge, and understanding. The Socratic method becomes the primary, the best, and pedagogical way for arriving at truth and is, arguably, necessary to an understanding of all subjects. We situate this discussion in the nature of education and what it has become in the American school system. It serves, in part, as a critique and a call to take up the Socratic method, which we briefly describe.

Here we discuss some of the basic items in Socratic discussion and how to have a good successful discussion as a means for arriving at truth. Come along with us as we explore Socratic discussion amidst a culture that has lost the art of conversation but also the means for arriving at truth.
