  • Roommates Are Right With Isa Medina
    Jan 22 2025

Straight from New York, comedian Isa Medina is a delight. This may turn into a destination wedding podcast toward the end, so if you're doing that, listen up! What happens when bisexual awareness week meets latino heritage month meets suicide awareness month? Isa explains that here. Cristina and Ilana agree, just make the thing that makes you laugh! Is your drug stand up comedy? Is it podcasts? Or just straight drugs? We want to know! What are the things that curb Isa's anxiety? Sleep, exercise, and Prozac. Ilana gives her hot take of being a 15-year-old pharmaceutical technician, but really she would love to have a pharmaceutical chemist come on the pod - taking recommendations. Cristina wants to know, do 80-year-olds wear contacts? And just fyi, you can not actually explode from the feelings you have when you are a parent, even though it does feel that way.

Shoutouts: Kimberly Akimbo, Fix My Life, Rythmia (But maybe shop around if you're going down this rabbit hole), I'm Right You're Wrong Podcast.

Endorsements: Having roommates, washing your face, and loose leaf tea.

    Jan 15 2025

There are not enough hyphens in the world to properly introduce the creative force and wonderful human, Alisha Gaddis. Also, welcome to the start of Ilana's Ayahuasca story, buckle up, it's going to take a minute! And for the record Ilana does not condone 15-year-olds eating mushrooms, even though it helped her, please talk to a therapist first. And hey America, it's time to bring back titties on TV - less guns, more buns!!!

  • Unhinged - Showing off Your Junk in Public
    Jan 1 2025

Ilana and Cristina are unhinged and they WILL forgive themselves! In this episode of "That's So Mental," they tackle some of humanity's most challenging life questions: Who the hell wants to measure a room before they paint it? What is the perfect handwriting for a list? Would you eat a Kurt Cobain protein bar?

They also (attempt to) discuss the first original story structures that are the foundation for all stories, mom time travel and how there is nothing super about a super-bill. Does Ilana have Borderline Personality disorder or was it mentioned on episode 4, with Dr. Alisa Angelone and her phone started feeding her videos of people with BPD. . . her therapist says it's the latter.

And let's not forget the big reveal: The rebrand of the podcast from "Totally Mental" to "That's So Mental," which you may not have even known about!

But now we mention it even though we had already corrected it prior to launch....are you confused yet?

The lesson these two land on is that everything has been done before and yet everyone should just continue to push forward.

    Mentions:

What Future Podcast, Bad Monkey, Fox News (jk) and Robert Irvine's Fit Crunch Protein Bars

  • A Real Deal Mental Health Professional! With Dr. Alisa Angelone
    Dec 18 2024

Ilana and Cristina get f*cking serious with Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Alisa Angelone, Ph.D. She’s done a lot of research, and we’re not talking about TikTok rabbit holes. She’s got some hot takes on anxiety and depression. Ilana confesses to screaming at her therapist (she has since apologized - and changed therapists). Cristina’s MIL (who happens to be a therapist) will not let her talk for more than 50 min, and now we know why. Alisa breaks down the meaning of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (No humans were caged for these therapies). Is finding a therapist a giant pain in the butt? It sure is! Dr. Angelone’s advice, check with your health insurance and have them send you a list and do your research - Psychology Today is a good resource.

Endorsements: magnesium citrate, Dr. Huberman lab may help you sleep, and hey, it’s okay to be misunderstood! What does that mean? Listen to find out, and hey, if you don't get it, that's totally cool. We are FINE with that.

  • When Your Brand Is Dressing Up Like An Animal with Michael Feldman
    Dec 11 2024

Writer and Performer Michael J Feldman shares his insights, diagnosis, and explains how during the pandemic, he ended up doing a solo show as his dog. Hey, would you rather die on the Titanic listening to screams or sweet music? Cristina and Ilana chat with Michael about anxiety vs depression and how to ride those waves. Michael shares the horror story about one of the last times he performed his solo show, “No, But I’m definitely In A Better Place Than I’ve Been In A Long Time.” An experience that may be just the thing that gets him to perform the show again.

Michael's credits include; The Neighbors, A.P. Bio, Not Dead Yet, (not to be confused for Dead To Me, which Ilana did - but mom’s tired!). We all know you can only change yourself, but we love a good reminder - thanks Byron Katie. Gotta work on your own sh*t, stay in your lane, baby! And hey, don’t forget to celebrate the little wins, especially NOW!

Cristina and Ilana introduce themselves, share their official diagnosis, and current medical treatment. They’ll also talk about being actors, ADHD, daddy issues and explore how the hell Cristina is on 600 Mgs of Wellbutrin.

Ilana will do a terrible Jennifer Coolidge impression (she’s working on it). They’ll play, “This is how old I am” where Cristina talks about drinking Carlo Rossi on a Spirit Airline flight and Ilana admits that she may have been the first and last person to ever fly with a Kombucha mushroom in a Nalgene bottle, thank you Virgin Airlines.

You may notice they refer to themselves as the Totally Mental Podcast, did they change their name four episodes in? Keep listening to find out!
