  • Scotty Austin (Saving Abel) - Midwest Mixtape Podcast
    Jul 6 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Scotty Austin isn’t your ordinary or average run-of-the-mill rock star. With a remarkable track record playing across the United States, as well as being a multi-instrumentalist in numerous genres, it is clear he has a unique perspective when it comes to creating music. Hailing from Parsons, Tennessee, his interest in various instruments started at a young age when he began reading music in kindergarten while also gaining experience in the family band at church. By the late 90s, Scotty began expanding on his knowledge of music genres and branching out to multiple styles such as percussion and classical guitar performance before earning his spot as the band leader of the official NASCAR Rolling Thunder band for an entire season. His accomplishments continued when around the early 2000s, he won fourth place in the world during the International Blues Contest while representing Memphis, Tennessee.

Shortly after, Scotty collaborated with a new original group and recording artist, Ash Bowers, along with Jason Aldean’s label, Broken Bow Records, as well as the sister label, Stoney Creek Records. It wasn’t long until Scotty decided to start his own original project, an indie rock band called Trash the Brand. He had wanted to record and play songs that he had written but never had the chance to play. Within weeks of forming, he was playing to packed houses and venues which in turn caught the attention of a few people in the music industry. Soon Scotty found himself in contact with Jeff Hanson (manager of Creed and Saving Abel), who offered to manage him. While negotiating, he asked Hanson to put him on the show with Saving Abel that was happening that weekend in Memphis. He was given the opening spot for the concert. A few days after the show, Scotty was asked to front Saving Abel in which he accepted and has since been with for over 8 years.

Scotty Austin has used his natural talent and ear for distinct sounds to produce expressive song lyrics and music throughout his c

    Jul 4 2024

The band Rehab originated in Warner Robins, GA, in the 1970s, with Danny Boone Alexander's musical upbringing playing a pivotal role. Influenced by the music his family played, including Johnny Paycheck’s “Take This Job and Shove It,” and memorable experiences like listening to “Sky Rockets in Flight” at the Crazy 8 Race Track during the Bicentennial, Danny’s passion for music was evident from a young age. Initially drawn to rock and southern rock, his musical tastes broadened with the emergence of the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, and NWA, cementing his love for hip hop. Danny’s first rap performance was at 15 during a high school pep rally, igniting his pursuit of a music career.

In his late teens, Danny began working professionally with his friend Denny “Steaknife” Campbell under the name "Prime Suspect." The duo's collaboration led to the formation of Rehab after meeting Jason Brooks. Despite Steaknife’s legal troubles, Danny and Jason signed with Epic Records, releasing “Southern Discomfort” in 2000. The album featured contributions from Goodie Mob’s Cee-Lo and Big Gipp, as well as Cody Chesnutt, selling over 140,000 copies and reaching the top 15 of the Modern Rock charts with “It Don’t Matter.” They toured nationally, sharing stages with Linkin Park and the Kottonmouth Kings during the Vans Warped Tour.

Following creative differences, Danny and Brooks parted ways, and Rehab was revitalized in 2005. The band recorded “Graffiti the World” with notable contributors like Bonecrusher, Phil Tan, and Billy Hume. The album was initially released independently until Danny signed with Universal Records in 2008. A collaboration with Hank Williams Jr. on “Sittin’ at a Bar” garnered a CMT nomination for Wide-Open Country Video of the Year in 2009. Rolling Stone featured Rehab’s renamed single, “The Bartender Song,” on its "Hot List." The track has achieved platinum status six times

Inimical Drive is a powerhouse in the contemporary rock scene, known for their electrifying performances and anthemic sound. With a fusion of captivating melodies and raw emotion, Inimical Drive continues to captivate audiences. Their latest single, "Victim," co-written and produced by Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz of Bad Wolves, exemplifies the band's evolution and determination to make a lasting impact on their fans' lives.

Hailing from the heart of St. Louis, Inimical Drive has set the stage ablaze with "Victim," an incendiary single co-written, produced, and mixed by Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz of the acclaimed band Bad Wolves. Following their 2023 EP 'From Solitude,' "Victim" marks a powerful return for the band in 2024. This track isn't just a song; it's a phoenix rising from the ashes of adversity, a roaring testament to the unbreakable human will. Vocalist Joel Colby channels his own trials, failures, and successes into the song’s lyrics, drawing from his vulnerability and resilience, which resonate with anyone who refuses to be defined by their struggles. "I have been inspired by so many people around me who have faced adversity and choose to overcome rather than succumb to victimhood," Colby explains. Through its stirring lyrics and powerful melodies, "Victim" is a rallying cry for those navigating life's challenges.

With a juggernaut momentum that's captured new fans nationwide, Inimical Drive continues to impress with every live show, sharing the stage with notable groups such as Bad Wolves, For the Fallen Dreams, The Funeral Portrait, and Otep. Their journey, fueled by the raw energy of their music, has carved a path through the hearts of fans, uniting them in a familiar rhythm of defiance, empowerment, and hope.

Looking ahead, Inimical Drive is set to venture back into the studio, fueled by the energy of
