  • Tonight, we shall meander leisurely through one of Poe’s most fun stories: The Cask of Amontillado! Allow me to set the stage.

    It is night. We are on a city street, and there are partygoers and revelers out in force. Many people are wearing masks, and the wine is flowing freely. Let us zoom in on a quieter corner, and there we find a man standing alone—but wait! He’s not alone. For here comes a boisterous oaf, stumbling his way through the crowd in spite of his wine goggles. It turns out that this will be a meeting that neither man will soon forget.

    This story is called “The Cask of Amontillado” and was written by Edgar Allen Poe
