Title: S2EP64, 25 Years of Mental, Spiritual, Emotional and Physical Abuse, Escaping the Cult with Martha Kartaoui Martha Kartaoui was chosen by “Cultman” at age 8. He was the intercessor to God. No one questioned his authority. They deserved the mental, spiritual, emotional and physical abuse. It cleansed them of their sins. It's the life she knew. She only escaped so that she could be with her sister in the "outside world" through her pregnancy. She didn't even realize that "Cultman" was an evil narcissistic sociopath. Martha has gone through her own healing of all the abuse that she suffered and now is clear about her purpose. She is bringing awareness and healing to others who have left highly controlled relationships and organizations. She wants to provide community, trauma healing, a way to release shame, fear and guilt, and help people feel less alone as they transition to life outside of the cult. Martha's book, "Glory Going All In" is available on her website and you can reach out to her to find out about her speaking, coaching, and retreats. Thank you, Martha, for your courage, your generosity, and your commitment for the world. Bio: Martha Glory Kartaoui is a resilient and courageous warrior who has transformed her life from being a Cult Survivor to becoming an influential voice and leader in the wellness industry. The Getting Real With Hilary Show with Hilary Arnow Burns Title: S2EP62, Yalda Shahriari and Ruslan Maidans, Saving Water and the Planet and Getting People Clean Yalda Shahriari and Ruslan Maidans are a power couple who are creating a groundbreaking product that can be used all over the world. NOWATA will clean your hands without water in a safe, environmentally friendly way. After using popular hand sanitizers during COVID, Yalda and Rus decided that these options were not what they wanted their children to use. In their spare time, they experimented with different formulas, trying to find one that fit their criteria. They were told over and over that it wasn’t possible, but they didn’t give up. In this interview they tell the amazing story of what it took to create NOWATA. Their product will launch this month. Go to nowataclean.com and sign up for their mailing list. This is exciting for our kids, our planet and humanity. Thank you both for your vision, courage, perseverance, humility and action. Their Story: During the pandemic, my wife and I became addicted to hand sanitizer. But we quickly realized we could do better. We're nature lovers - which is what inspired us to move from Northern California to Rhode Island in 2020, and then to Stonington, Connecticut last year. When our hands got dirty hiking, sanitizer wasn't helpful; we needed soap. But to wash soap off, we needed water, which isn't always available outdoors. So we got to work. I majored in chemistry at UNC Charlotte, which - after about a year of experiments - allowed me to develop a prototype for a soap that, upon extended contact with the skin, evaporated and turned into dirtballs that fell away. Our friends loved it; so did the customers at our the Newport Dunkin who sampled it after we bribed them with free coffee. But there was still a problem: The prototype was made of synthetic ingredients; we wanted a plant-based, natural, biodegradable, and safe-if-ingested formula. So I spent the next 3 months experimenting in my basement. After exhausting all the ingredients available to a layperson like myself, I reached out to nearly 100 different cosmetic company formulators who had access to more powerful chemicals; I contracted 6 of them. After 16 months of experimentation, one of the formulators came up with a soap that did exactly what we wanted. We then hired two separate manufacturers to produce 5,000 units. It only took us 4 years of work and $100,000. We started selling our soap on our website last month. We named it Nowata. Why? Because we're from New England, where people don't pronounce the final "r". Title: S2EP60, He Was Given 3 Months To Live - 20 Years Later He is Training Shamans with Ray Crist Ray Crist was a very successful fashion and advertising photographer, living in Greece. His work appeared on covers of Vogue and billboards across Europe. He was working 80 hours a week, at the top of his game, and living his dream. After 20 years of photography, Ray was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer and given 3 months to live. "When death knocks, change your address," was what he heard at the Oracle of Delphi in Greece. He left Greece, came to America, and consulted with more hospitals. Johns Hopkins and NIH told him to get his affairs in order. Then the miracles started. He had experimental surgery at NIH, and went to the Kripalu Center to heal. Still alive, he became an instructor there. Following his boyhood dream of becoming a shaman, Ray found his way to Mexico, Peru and Bolivia. Ray's journey is fascinating. He found “his” shaman and eventually was told to train shamans himself. He is still alive, obviously. He is the founder of the Jaguar Path School for Modern Shamanism and the Science of Healing. Ray is about to start a new training program which you can learn about on this interview and at jaguarpath.com. If Shamanism calls to you, or you would like to know how Ray escaped a fatal diagnosis, please watch this interview. It could save your life or the life of your loved ones. BIO: Ray Crist is a world-renowned visionary who offers his teachings from a deep well of knowledge of indigenous wisdom. He has been an apprentice and an initiate of the Q'ero Nations elders since 2006 and ever since has shared the ways of living with thousands of spiritual seekers. Ray has traveled the world and has spent the last three decades immersed in shamanism, various styles of yoga, Chinese medicine, and martial arts. He has been offering workshops and trainings at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, NY Open Center, Yoga Journal, Blue Spirit, Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort, and other centers around the world. Ray’s trainings focus on how to use shamanic tools and yoga as technologies that assist us to reach an optimal state of being to live a balanced, empowered, and extraordinary life. Ray was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2003 and was given 3 months to live. He left his home country of Greece and in 2005 had surgery at the National Institute of Health (NIH) where he gave up his right kidney. After that, he ventured in search of indigenous healers. His path led him through Mexico and Peru. To his surprise, the shamans he met told him that they couldn’t heal him... but that they could train him to become a shaman and heal himself. Title: S2EP58, Finding The Way To Forgive, Debut Novel, Something Better with Diane Parrish What a delightful conversation with fellow Westporter, Diane Parrish who launched her first book this week. Her novel, Something Better, is a book you can't put down. I read it a few months ago and I am still thinking about it. And that says something because I usually can't even remember what books I have just read. We talk about how Diane went about conceiving and nurturing her book. Anyone wanting to write/publish a book will find inspiration and motivation to hear about Diane's process. I got to talk about my process and forgive myself for what happened. Forgiveness is the theme of Diane's book so it was perfect. Something Better will leave you thinking, wondering, and perhaps even healing your own life's disappointments and grudges. Grab a copy wherever books are sold. Thank you again, Diane, for your wonderful prose and this fabulous gift to the world. Title: S2EP53, Finding the Strength to Power Through and Live Fully in This Life She Didn't Choose with Becky Galli I can not stop crying. I am so moved by my conversation with Becky Galli. "Some would say life has not been kind to me," she says in the introduction of her second book, "morning fuel." At age 20, I lost my seventeen year old brother. Two of my four children had special needs. One of my two sons died at age fifteen. And at 38, nine days after my divorce was finalized, I was paralyzed by transverse myelitis, a rare inflammation of the spinal cord that affects one in a million.” How does Becky go on? I wonder about that myself. But after reading her first book, "rethinking possible," I can see where she gets her strength. Her family, her upbringing, her friends, her spirituality, her faith, her journalling and her therapy. Becky will inspire all of us to live life to the fullest, no matter what circumstances we have. Becky has so many life lessons that she shares with all of us through her column, "From Where I Sit," her books, her Thoughtful Thursdays, and our conversation. Becky wants us all to "Let Our Love Be Larger." You can find Becky's resources at BeckyGalli.com Subscribe and be a part of her email list and let's all live life more fully. Her handle is @chairwriter Note to listeners: For some reason there was an echo when I talked in the second half. I don’t know why. But it’s there. My apologies ahead of time. #wheelchair #BeckyGalli #chairwriter #paraplegic #transversemyelitis #specialneeds #deathofabrother #deathofachild #pastor #writer #author #acceptance #hardlife #resources #support #inspiration #miscarriage #pastorchildren #rethinkingpossible #morningfuel #thegettingrealwithhilaryshow #paralysis #morninginspiration
