They could have spoken about The Dark Knight Trilogy (coming in 2024!) but instead they cover an equally important adaptation of the Batman character, with the 1943 black and white serial! The serial's story line involves the Batman, a secret U.S. government agent, attempting to defeat the schemes of Japanese agent Dr. Daka operating in Los Angeles at the height of World War II. Hardly the most critically acclaimed take on the series, let alone most well known, there’s actually a lot to unpack with this, given it actually started a few trends that would continue with the Batman mythos.
