When Average Boy’s family gathers for a Thanksgiving Day bash, a “surprise” casserole leads to a big fight. And Bob realizes the importance of thinking before he speaks. Things start to go better until his uncle’s long prayer keeps everyone from enjoying their hot food. Thankfully, Grandma comes to the rescue in an interesting way. Getting picked on in gym class is no fun, and so is getting picked last for a team. Average Boy experiences both of those things when the gym teacher has the students play a wild game called, “Crab Soccer.” At first this makes AB crabby, but then he makes a goal in a way you might expect—proving that everyone has different talents. Average Boy is super excited about the release of his new book, Average Boy’s Above Average Summer. Not only is it funny, but it has so many uses, such as breaking lawn ornaments and propping open windows. AB shares how he met his neighbor, Mr. Polvado, who has become a mentor in his life.
