It seems all we do nowadays is talk about “mental health,” yet apparently, things are getting worse, not better. Are we in a mental health crisis? Has the destigmatization of mental illness helped? Do we really all need to be in therapy?

At one time, ⁠Andrew Lawton⁠ was struggling with mental health issues, suicidal himself. Had MAID been an option for him then, he may well have taken it. But things got better, and now he is living a happy and fulfilling life, very glad he didn't take that irreversible step. But for many Canadians, they might not have the chance to recover. ⁠Andrew Lawton⁠ is the Member of Parliament for Elgin—St. Thomas—London South. Before being elected in 2025, Andrew was a broadcaster, journalist, author, and the managing editor of True North. He is the founder of the ⁠“I Got Better” campaign ⁠and a proponent of Bill C-218, "The Right to Recover Act."
