  • Liverpool go 11 points clear after City win - is the relegation battle over too?
    Feb 23 2025
Jimbo has Daniel Storey, JJ Bull and Adrian Clarke for company after a pivotal weekend in the Premier League season. Liverpool make light work of Man City at the Etihad, going 11 points clear at the top of the table. With 7 of their 11 remaining fixtures at Anfield, Liverpool will surely be worthy champions. But is City’s place in the top 4 or 5 under threat? Arsenal are beaten at the Emirates by Graham Potter’s West Ham. Next up, as part of a full midweek programme, a trip to a Forest side beaten 4-3 at Newcastle on Sunday. The bottom three all lose at home, each conceding 4 goals. It’s looking pretty bleak for any hopes of a relegation fight - has van Nistelrooy given up hope? Plus an Edwards-inspired Burnley, a Jackson-deficient Chelsea and Amorim’s refusal to paper over cracks. Produced by Charlie Jones. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Man City 0-2 Liverpool with James Pearce (04.30) • PART 2a: Arsenal 0-1 West Ham (19.00) • PART 2b: Newcastle 4-3 Nottingham Forest (24.00) • PART 3a: Bigging up Burnley and the latest from Pittodrie (32.00) • PART 3b: Bournemouth 0-1 Wolves & Southampton 0-4 Brighton (37.00) • PART 3c: Aston Villa 2-1 Chelsea (40.00) • PART 3d: The rest of the Premier League weekend (46.00) Learn more about your ad choices. • Man City humbled by Mbappé’s Real Madrid - next up leaders Liverpool
    Feb 20 2025
Jimbo welcomes Charlie Eccleshare, Tom Williams and Liam Tharme into the studio after the conclusion of the Champions League knock-out play-offs. Man City are taken apart by a Kylian Mbappé hat-trick at the Bernabeu. The chase for Champions League qualification resumes with the visit of Liverpool at the Etihad on Sunday. Liverpool draw 2-2 on a Wednesday night again, this time at Villa Park. James Pearce reviews that game and looks ahead to a game with previously the Reds’ fiercest rivals for silverware. Elsewhere in the Champions League, it was a disastrous week for Serie A with four Italian clubs in the competition becoming just one and some generational head losses. Plus a defence of Brendan Rodgers, the first goal at Bramley-Moore Dock and what Tottenham want everyone to call them. Produced by Charlie Jones. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Champions League headlines (02.30) • PART 2a: Real Madrid 3-1 Man City (05.30) • PART 2b: PSG smash Brest and Bayern break Celtic hearts (19.00) • PART 2c: A miserable week for Serie A (25.00) • PART 3a: Aston Villa 2-2 Liverpool with James Pearce (33.00) • PART 3b: Man City v Liverpool & Arsenal v West Ham previewed (38.00) • PART 4: The rest of the Premier League weekend (48.00) Learn more about your ad choices. • Real Madrid and Man City go again, as Kompany’s Bayern edge closer to the title
    Feb 18 2025
Jimbo’s joined by Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Michael Cox for your weekly dose of European action. We begin with the big F-bomb controversy which has taken La Liga by storm, Nabil Bentaleb’s dream return to action for Lille - and a look ahead to the all-important Champions League Knockout Round Play-off second legs, with Real v Man City topping the midweek billing. Elsewhere in Spain, the costly red cards for Bellingham and Barrios meant Real and Atleti left the door wide open for Barcelona who faced Rayo Vallecano on Monday night (after we’d recorded) - and it turns out that Antony fella is actually quite good - after making in three goals in three games at new home Betis… Over in Germany, it looks like Bayern Munich have one hand on the Bundesliga title after their goalless draw with closest rivals Bayer Leverkusen means the gap at the top of the table stays at eight points. Elsewhere the domestic misery continues to pile on Borussia Dortmund, beaten 2-0 by Bochum and sitting 11th in the league. In Italy, Juventus continued their surge up the Serie A table with a 1-0 win over Inter in the Derby d'Italia. It means Simone Inzaghi’s side missed the chance to go top after leaders Napoli had fallen to their third consecutive draw, held 2-2 by Lazio. And in Ligue 1, Fabian Ruiz bagged the only goal against Toulouse as PSG maintained their 10-point lead at the top of the table while Mika Biereth continued his remarkable start to life in Monaco with his second hat-trick in as many home games in their 7-1 thrashing of Nantes. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend, profanity & Champions League teases (00.45) • PART 2: La Liga review - Real and Atleti drop points to open door for Barca (16.00) • PART 3: Bundesliga review - Top two stalemate hands title advantage to Kompany’s side (26.52) • PART 4: Serie A review - Juve mounting top four charge as Napoli draw three in a row (41.45) • PART 5: Ligue 1 review - Bentaleb’s fairytale goal as Strasbourg fly high (50.45) Learn more about your ad choices.
