  • It’s the beginning of 1500 when in Venegono Superiore, a small village in the North of Italy, seven women are accused of witchcraft and sentenced to death by burning: In the castle that still overlooks the town they were jailed, tortured and subjected to trial. The Holy Inquisition established by Pope Paul III to combat the Reformation didn’t exist yet, but in this part of Seprio, historical Region of Lombardy, witch hunt had already begun.
