  • Intergenerational Trauma, Grief, and Impossible Beauty Standards
    Feb 20 2025
Natalie is joined by Susan Lieu to discuss what led her to writing her book, The Manicurist’s Daughter, and creating her one woman show, 140 LBS: How Beauty Killed My Mother. After Susan’s mother died of a complication during her tummy tuck surgery, Susan was left with a family that wanted to remain silent on her mother’s death and how her family was forever changed. Natalie and Susan will use examples from their own stories to talk about how misogyny affects their lives through beauty standards, shame surrounding big feelings and caring for one’s mental health, and how the broken medical system costs lives.

    Feb 13 2025
Noelle Cope (Sapphic Representation In Media ep) is back to talk to Natalie about the abundant joy of being a bi-sexual woman. Natalie and Noelle will talk on the nuanced differences between dating men compared to dating women. Noelle will give some insight on what would make Natalie brave enough to approach women to date and the two women plan out their perfect bi-dates. And of course, we will discuss how Patriarchy and misogyny shaped bi-sexuality in their minds and the underlying influences that keep up from living an authentic romantic life.

  • Another Check-In on the Four Fear Responses
    Jan 30 2025
We will be replaying our episode on the Four Fear Responses this week! I am hoping that this episode will make you feel less alone if you are currently experiencing a lot of fear responses over the news, our current trying times, or anything else you may be going through. Hopefully if we can identify when our body is in a fear response, it can help us affirm ourselves and our feelings.

Am I actually in danger or is this just new? Amy Green Smith, host of the Bold-Faced Truth podcast, is here to discuss the four fear responses. How does our fear manifest in a modern world where there’s not a large animal chasing us and we have protection from the elements? Now we have the new fear response of fawning that manifests as people pleasing. Our flight response resonates in the way we experience depression. And how does misogyny use our fear responses as a tool to oppression and a way to keep us silent and small? All of it and more is discussed in this episode!

Galinda the Good? Are we sure about that? Glinda has been raising quite the internet buzz about whether or not she’s the movie’s main villain or just a girl who wouldn’t take one more scary step because she just wasn’t ready. While dissecting Julia’s reaction to Galinda, Natalie and her will also discuss white women’s role in Patriarchy, the 2024 election, and what happens when you align yourself too closely to Patriarchy in order to keep yourself safe. • Wicked
    Jan 9 2025
Today, we are holding space for the 2024 film starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, Wicked. Chris Derosa (Fixing Famous People) is back on the podcast to talk about what it felt like to sit through Wicked once….twice….possibly three times and be riveted at the return of talent and magic in theaters. We will honor the feelings we had to make room for when Defying Gravity was sung. The press tour and the reactions to the film will be analyzed We will also bring into question why it gets so hard for us to celebrate a film that is being championed by two women who are unafraid to show their true emotions about female friendship and the power behind their latest project.. Mostly, this will be a celebration of this massive film that got us through the end of 2024.
