    In this episode, we sit down with award-winning filmmaker and executive editor of the San Francisco Bayview National Black Newspaper, Kevin Epps. Born and raised in Bayview Hunters Point, Kevin is a true reflection of Frisco’s signature political consciousness, activist spirit and independent hustle. It was an honor to talk to Kevin about his journey from filmmaking to journalism and his passion for his community.


    The San Francisco Bay View National Black Newspaper, founded in 1976, is a communications network for the Black community worldwide, with its website, sfbayview.com, the most visited Black newspaper on the web, second only to the Final Call, and one of a kind print edition that’s distributed throughout the Bay Area and mailed to subscribers, including thousands of prisoners all over the country.


    Transmission Studio is a series of intimate conversations with the independent artists and community-based organizations living and working within the vibrant, complicated and ever-evolving ecosystem of San Francisco arts and culture. It aspires to inform, inspire and more importantly spark meaningful and critical dialogue on the state of the artists who remain committed to this city in spite of unprecedented social, economic and political challenges.

  • 🔴 SF COMMONS: Transmission Studio CiNEOLA with Daniel Díaz & Diana Sánchez Maciel

    In this episode, we speak to Daniel Díaz and Diana Sánchez Maciel, co-directors of Latin American documentary platform CiNEOLA. Daniel is a Colombian-British filmmaker and marketing strategist, based in San Francisco since 2019. He has worked in film marketing, distribution and production in the UK, Europe, South America and the US over the past ten years. Diana is a producer and programmer born in Mexico City and raised in California, she is a bilingual educator and Education Program Manager at the California Film Institute (CAFILM) as well as short film programmer at the Sundance Film Festival. CiNEOLA is a platform for Latin American stories, connecting audiences with diverse representations of Latinoamérica on film through public screenings, online distribution and original content. Currently in its 5th year of public programming in San Francisco, past programs have included "Cuerpos Libres: Latinx Perspectives on Reproductive Rights", "Cada Cuadro Posible: Short Films" and the annual "Colombia on film" series.     In this episode, we speak to Arlin Golden, a documentary film worker living in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has been curating and distributing documentary films as co-director of Video Project, an impact-oriented distributor of documentary films, for 10 years. For nearly as long he has been a short film programmer, working principally in his capacity as director and programmer of Drunken Film Festival, a free annual event that brings world-class festival quality films into the democratized social spaces of local bars.
