  • Epiphany _ Stop, Drop and Listen
    Dec 10 2025

Epiphany invites a pause in the middle of noise and hurry: stop, drop, and listen, and become wise like the wise men who followed the star to Jesus. The Magi stopped what they were doing, dropped their own plans and comforts, and listened to the quiet guidance of God, even when it led them far from home and into uncertainty. They show that true wisdom is not about having all the answers, but about being humble enough to kneel, to worship, and to change course when God warns of danger or calls in a new direction. In the same way, Epiphany calls hearts to stop chasing lesser lights, drop pride and distractions, and listen for the gentle voice that still leads toward Christ, the light that makes every other light make sense.

  • Christmas Lights, Edison and Tangles
    Dec 10 2025

Thomas Edison who didn’t invent Christmas. He didn’t even invent Christmas lights the way they look now, spiraling around pine branches, blinking in red-and-green rhythms. But in December of 1880, outside his Menlo Park laboratory, Edison strung incandescent bulbs along the fence line—tiny beads of warm light—partly to advertise electricity, partly to show the world that light itself could be shaped into celebration.

  • The Bible Is Reading Us
    Dec 3 2025

Theologians use the phrase “the Bible is reading us” to express the idea that Scripture does more than inform; it exposes motives, shapes identity, and “observes” the reader, somewhat like an observer in quantum physics affects what is measured. In quantum theory, the observer effect describes how measurement influences a system’s state, which people compare to how engaging with biblical texts can collapse a person’s vague possibilities into concrete choices, character, and faith. Others draw parallels between the Bible’s emphasis on unseen spiritual realities and quantum physics’ description of an unseen, probabilistic subatomic world, while stressing that the Bible is not a science manual but a spiritual book.

    Thanksgiving Reality Check

The turkey’s thawing in the sink, It’s bigger than we thought, I think. The gravy’s lumpy, Aunt Sue’s late, The dog just stole a piece of plate.

Uncle Bob is telling tales again, About how football was better then. The kids are hiding under chairs, And someone burned the yams upstairs.

Still, laughter fills the crowded room, Despite the culinary doom. We clink our cups, we feast, we cheer— It’s messy magic, once a year.

  • Fibonacci
    Nov 26 2025

Centuries ago, in the winding alleyways of a humble Italian town, a boy named Leonardo Fibonacci watched his father's rabbits multiply. He recognized an odd rhythm to their growth—one pair became two, then three, as if life itself followed a secret blueprint. These numbers, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, would become known as the Fibonacci sequence.
