    When Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy William “Bill” Hardy, a 23 year veteran, was ruthlessly gunned down in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 19, 1995, authorities began to look for the person responsible for killing one of their own. As tips flooded in, two men quickly emerged as lead suspects. Prosecutors individually charged both men, Toforest Johnson and Ardragus Ford, as being a "sole gunman", but their trials led to very different outcomes. For nearly 30 years Toforest has been sitting on death row in Alabama, with an execution date fast approaching. Inside the vehicle they discovered the decomposing body of a woman. After interrogation the driver confessed to killing multiple women, and was found guilty of nine counts of second degree murder. But authorities’ work was just beginning. Even after 30 years, two of his victims remain unidentified.     When the staff at Geoffrey’s restaurant in Malibu encountered a patron who was acting strangely on the evening of Wednesday, September 16, 2009, they called authorities in hopes they would get the woman some help. Authorities later released the woman, 24 year old Mitrice Richardson, in the middle of the night with no car, phone, or wallet. Nearly a year later Mitrice’s remains were found in a remote area of Malibu Canyon, but authorities have yet to determine what happened to her.
