  • This podcast explores the intricate relationship between technology and procurement within the Irish health sector. It seeks to answer a pressing question: how can the role and impact of technology on a public procurement process be assessed effectively? By addressing procurement as a single structural entity, we delve into how various technologies—such as e-procurement systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools—affect the entire process, from supplier management to service delivery.

    This study was initially undertaken as part of my doctoral research. Over time, the topic has gained even greater relevance, as public sectors worldwide seek to embrace digital transformation in procurement. The decision to turn this research into a podcast was driven by the increasing need for practical frameworks and insights that can help policymakers, procurement managers, and healthcare administrators better understand and implement technology in their procurement practices.
