Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside the fish. He said, “I cried out to the Lord in my great
trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and Lord, you heard me.”
– Jonah 2:1-2
The Story of Jonah
Hey parents! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week’s lesson, Jonah, with your child after they’ve watched the video service!
- What was your favorite part of the video we just watched? Do you have any questions about what you saw?
- What did God tell Jonah to do?
Go to Nineveh and tell the people there about God’s rules and plan. - What did Jonah do after God told him to go to Nineveh?
He didn’t want to go there, so he ran away. He got on a boat and sailed the other direction. - What happened to Jonah after he was swallowed by the fish?
He changed his attitude. He prayed to God and asked him for help. When the fish spit him out, he obeyed God and went to Nineveh. - What can I do when I realize I have a bad attitude?
Ask God for another chance. Tell him you want to try again to obey him or choose a good attitude. - Have you ever felt like hiding from God or ignoring God or a parent or teacher when they ask you to do something? What happened?
Consider sharing your experiences with your child, emphasizing that the right choice is always to obey and talk to God.
